Will Gettleman be tempted to draft Gurley @ 25?

you say that like they were some 2nd rate nobody school.  You do realize that they won the national championship, don't you?  and they basically shut down the potential #1 overall pick in the process.

That's great, but their defense isn't anything special.  I don't know if you can say "shutting down" is the appropriate words.  Especially when he still got over 330 yards against them.  Hell, Sims from Alabama played pretty decent against them too.  Gordon couldn't get 80 fuging yards against that mediocre defense.

We need weapons for Cam and our offense. If Gurley is a dominant weapon to be used in our offense then why not. If he is medically cleared and is the BPA when we are on the clock then draft him. I trust Gett to make the right choice. I will also say that I would rather have DGB. I believe we could use another wide receiver more than another rb right now. Stewart is still a stud.

I am just hoping that you have enough GMs with the same sentiment that some of the people in this thread have (which I seriously doubt). That way TG will fall to us in the second. Get DGB in the first, TG in the second and Ogbuehi in the third, and that would be unbelievable talent and value.

Ohio State's defense was 15th out of 125 teams in yards given up per game.

As amazing as that would be. I'd be shocked if DGB and TG don't go in the first.

he scored once in the first half, and once in the second half, with 1/4 of his passing yards coming off of one play.  This was the #3 overall and #4 scoring offense, with the best player in the country at QB.  They effectively shut him down.

I won't argue with that, but their defense was far from superior. Barley top 15. Clemson's defense was the only impressive defense last year and they had their troubles. Nobody was scared of Ohio States defense. Especially with their running game, receivers, and 3 starters at the QB position (crazy enough).

Getting a deal with CJ Spiller gives us a return man and a change of pace back, plus makes for dangerous screen plays

Are there backs in college who can do the same?  Don't get me wrong, I would love him, but getting a deal is unlikely, and if I am going to spend $$, it isn't going to be a RB--that is just me, and I understand what a plus he would be.  I'd rather put the $$ in the person in front of him on the OL.

    • He makes a good point about Wallace.  In fairness to Wallace it is hard to play your position as freely as you need to when your defensive line is getting pushed around like ragdolls.  One of the greatest attributes a defensive line has is sucking up blocks, freeing up your linebackers.  Our defensive line couldn't suck up a lollipop more or less blocks.  I think Evans, Sanders and Tremble are going to be a really nice TE group.  I can see all three getting time on the field.  If Sanders can improve as a blocker teams won't be so inclined to believe it is a pass play whenever Sanders is on the field.  Ryan Fitzgerald, I think was an awesome pick-up. Hopefully he can fill our kicker void. Luke Kandra many turn out to be our next Norwell.  Everything I have heard about him says he's a beast.  He needs some refinement, but the good news is he's got Hunt and Lewis (arguably the best guard tandem in the league) to learn from.
    • Great teams build through the draft and have several young players that start that are on rookie contracts. It's important to hit on players in rounds 4 thru 7.  These should be future starters and solid depth.  When you hit on most of your picks you free up a lot of cap space for those one- or two-year players to fill spots you are thin at. No GM is going to perfect on all their picks.  You're going to whiff every once in a while.  That was Hurney problem.  He'd nail the first pick but after that it was reach after reach and we couldn't get any depth on this team. I'm excited about Morgan as our GM and hopefully he'll be around a long time.  It will be even better if Canales can continue to grow as a head coach, both in the development of young players and play calling. I remember last season after Young came back in the lineup and started to perform well.  We saw different plays I had only seen other teams use.   If Canales's play design and play calling continue to grow. Morgan and Canales will be linked together for a long time.  It would be nice to see a Coach and GM together for a decade or two. Go Panthers
    • They also came out for the encore and the singers were dressed in canes jerseys. Pretty fuging cool.
