What is your average monthly grocery bill?

I started hunting this year, didn't get squat, as a means to supplement my beef. The prospect of 300-500 lbs of meat is enticing. During the summer growing season I spend a lot of time at the farm picking my own veggies. I can get out with 25-30% of the cost of things I can get in the grocery store. Also grow my own herbs which cuts down on part of my grocery bill. My costs for 2 is about $800 a month, but I try to eat organic and we eat out once a week.

That is for 3 meals a day plus snacks. I love jerky but it's spends to make.

Where are you hunting?

I don't hunt much anymore, in fact haven't shot a deer in 5 plus years, but you almost can't sit in a stand in Eastern NC and not see 10 per day.

I'm just thinking unless he's poaching in a rancher's back 40...what are the options?

do you guys have elk and moose down there?  I'm going out on a limb and thinking he's not shooting a 400 to 500 lb deer?

Most deer around here are in the 130-200 range.  If you use all of your tags, you can get a lot of meat.

gotcha...most deer around here will dress at 100 pounds...and that's a fairly big deer here.  Moose and Elk of course are a whole different story.  Good size moose will dress out at 500 - 600 pounds and an Elk isn't far behind....350 - 450 dressed.
