Yes, Shaq was indeed the BPA

Before the draft I telegraphed to you the top targets in the first round.

Gurley -> Humphries -> Shaq -> Peat .... in that order. This wasn't based on my own opinion, but other sources.

True to form, Gettleman chose the BPA and not the position of greatest need.

It was not a reach. Gettleman truly believes Shaq was the most talented football player on the board at 25.

He may not have been your BPA, or the media's BPA, but he definitely was Gettleman's.

my only complaint is those cunts in Arizona stole the chance away from us to decide between Humphries and Shaq- that would have been interesting

Would have been Humphries

and yes, would still have been Shaq if Peat was on the board.

Shaq was only the best player in the minds of Gettleman and his little minions.

Look, I like the guy---Gettleman and Shaq---but neither were the BPA last night.

My main complaint is: if we had Humphries rated that highly, we should have gone up and got him. Everybody and their mother knew AZ was taking him. Disappointed we didn't move ahead of Det. bc this would have been the year to trade up.

Before I drank some of that snake oil that Gettleman was selling last year, I was of the opinion that Bell and Chandler were shaky at the very best, and I was also of the opinion that our wide receiving corps was extremely uninspiring and lacking. Well, I hate to tell you, I was correct on both accounts.

    • Assuming Mann is back I’d go ahead and move Green and the first rounder from PHX for a starting center. I prefer Okogie to Green anyway.
    • Been here since the Coliseum days. Hornets were the first pro team I ever rooted for. If they're ever going to get out of the gutter they have to establish a culture. They are trying to do that. I have no idea if it will be successful but it's a start.
    • I don’t think I'd go that far but there is definitely legitimate reason to ask how much he actually values winning and being great as a basketball player. He is very easily distracted with off the court stuff. This has been a public criticism of people like LeBron James with some of the newer generations of "stars". And it is 1000% valid and needed to be said. All I can say is I hope this is the year. If it is it will be apparent fairly early on. But I get the sense if the same themes continue as the upcoming season progresses the FO could look to move him before the trade deadline. It would suck for a multitude of reasons and I don't want to see it happen but if it did it would be on LaMelo and LaMelo alone because they've given him the keys and are finally putting pieces around him. If he wants to be a great basketball player and win he will be here and do what is necessary for the team to be successful. If not well....
