If Laell Collins falls to the 5th, how do we not take him?!

Recommended Posts

Innocent until proven guilty, but it would still be hard to associate with him until he was cleared completely. I hope we pass now and if he turns out to be in the clear, there will be some serious bidding to get him into a team's camp as an UDFA.

I'm still scratching my head at the NFL not allowing him to go to the supplemental draft instead. It's unprecedented, but could mean a great deal to the kid if he is indeed innocent.

Gil Brandt agrees with me..

"not for the off-the-field situation facing Collins this week, he would have been a top-12 pick. This is where you have your investigative team do what it can to find out as much as it can about what happened. If you're a team with two second-round picks, and you can approach one as sort of a "bonus" pick, Collins is too good a player to leave laying around. He can come in and start at guard or tackle in the NFL."

I've heard from a reliable lawyer ....

Is there such a thing?

We're not the only team with a 'hands off' attitude on the guy. Until the legal situation clears up, I can't see any team risking more than a 7th rounder on him, and that still won't be the Panthers.

This organization has had a stain from Rae Carruth for over a decade. Greg Hardy then brought us back into the national spotlight. It might be a "free pick who cares" to you, but try explaining to the media when your player is indicted on murder charges for killing a pregnant woman and say "well, we had three fifth rounders and figured why not take a chance".

This organization would be crucified.

That's the sad thing though. No one should give af about the dumbasses that run the media

IMO we didn't get screwed by Hardy. We got screwed by that exempt list. He either should have been allowed to play or we should have been allowed to cut him without pay. The money could have been used to sign a player, trade for a player or restructure a current contact. PR concerns are forgotten quickly especially if your winning.

Gil Brandt is nothing so he can do that. Comedians can say things like "sometimes you gotta go upside a bitches head" and people laugh. But that doesn't mean someone else in the public eye can condone domestic violence.

Gil Brandt says sure draft Collins. Then when he is indicted for murder, Gil Brandt fades back into obscurity while the organization that drafted the kid takes the heat.
