Alfred Morris: RB for hire?

Recommended Posts

"Washington Redskins coach Jay Gruden recently assured Alfred Morris that the drafting of third-round bruiser Matt Jones won't affect the veteran running back's role this season.

If general manager Scot McCloughan's assessment is correct, though, Jones could displace Morris as soon as 2016."

Three straight 1,000+ yard seasons, all three seasons 4+ yds per carry. 26 years old entering last year of contract, not wanted by the 'skins as it seems.

Sound familiar? A Redskins RB undervalued and unappreciated? I would love to pick this guy up on the cheap.

It's hard to judge the value of a RB in the Shanahan offense, even though he didn't have the Shanahan offense last season. I mean, guys like Tatum Bell were racking up 100 yard games in that system. It's very RB friendly.

    • I think the qualification has changed over time though. A deep ball play used to take 4 to 6 seconds for the receiver to get to that spot on the field. Now a receiver can be there in 2.5. That's less time than most QBs have to set and throw. In my mind a deep route takes time to develop. A crossing route and a deep route can't take the same amount of time at full speed. You can have 4 deep balls on the same drive,  almost 5 if you do 5 20 yard throws goal line to goal line. That doesn't even make sense when you say it out loud.
    • The sad part is it looks manicured enough that he's aware it's running away from him.  Also, I just wanted to give you some fun loving grief on King Haynes today having a chance to throw a game winning TD, and was wildly errant, and ultimately picked off to end the game.  So happy I won't have to hear anything else about The Golden Calf of Bristol lite ever again watching college football.
    • I just think Panthers believe in Bryce far more than the fans do and he is most likely going to be the QB at least the next two seasons. the real shot of us moving from Bryce is not getting an extension, till then they are going to give him every chance to succeed and I just want to win.
