2015 Carolina Panthers Roster Projection

Jeremy Igo

Yup I think he was brought in specifically for LBer depth and he's a known commodity on special teams. Was also a special teams captain in Miami. I think those are the types of guys that Rivera covets.

Addition of Mayo could give him the boot. Would be pointless to have 2 backup mikes. I would honestly like to see Mayo get put on the PS. I don't feel he'll contribute anything at all on defense this year, and we've got other guys, like Trusnik, who could handle special teams. Still the only pick I'm not too happy about. But I don't anticipate him not making the 53 so Trusnik could be out.

Yup I'm still scratching my head over that pick... Especially after bringing in Trusnik and already having lots of guys competing at linebacker. Thought we could have added a good nickel corner in that draft slot or a project DE or safety. Klein, Mayo, Glanton, Trusnik, Reddick... something or someone has got to give.

4 RBs and 6 WRs is more than we have carried in the Gettleman era. Fair bet that it ends up at 3 and 5 and those two spots go to the defense. Namely DL and LB.

That would be inline with last year.

Here is the breakdown from last year according to the article. The article had Tolbert with the RBs. I listed him as a FB so it would be comparable to Jeremy's list.

QB - 3

RB - 3

FB - 1

TE - 4

OL - 10

WR - 5

Offense Total - 26

DL - 9

LB - 6

DB - 9

Defense Total - 24

Punter - 1

LS - 1

PK -1

Specialist Total - 3

None of these numbers are set in stone, I'm sure it varies among years and from team to team.

I think Jeremy has a 28/22 split between offense and defense. I would be surprised if it is that much in favor of the offense.

Really feel one of Chandler/Martin/Silatolu wont make it - most leaning towards Martin as Chandler & Silatolu have experience on the line and more dead money.

Added three changes to include Tillman, Coleman and Trusnik, don't think we'll be entering the season without Tillman's experience at CB and Coleman and Trusnik's versatility.

Yeah that's the positional distribution I expect. No doubt they would prefer to carry only 2 QB's as well, but Webb's ability to play other positions give them the flexibility to carry 3. I could even see just 9 OL with another LB/DB to even the offense/defense numbers at 25 and put another special teamer on the roster given the emphasis on that this offseason.

Good breakdown Zod.

But I gotta agree with those saying Lester won't be making it.  I definitely feel Coleman is being overlooked this offseason.

He didn't mesh well when Kelly came into Philly but averaged around 70 tackle 3 INTs his 2 seasons starting under Reid (and this is with a defense quite similar to our own back then still using Johnson/McD concepts).  He had some coverage issues but nothing detrimental IMO.  Then last year in KC he has to come in and ended up stepping into a decent role because of injuries and managed 34 tackles, 3 INTs.  Had a great game against KC to close out the season.

Also, he's on almost a $3 mil contract over 2 years, 300k signing bonus.
