Cam's deal clears 1.6 million in 2015 cap

Where do you find all the details per year, and guaranteed, etc.? I think that $30M or whatever it is will be in 2016 right? Trying to figure this out but kind find the structure information.

I'm guessing 2016 and 2017 will be big cap hit numbers but not so big we won't sign Luke. But Norman might be iffy. But if it goes down after that we are in good position to sign other significant guys. Add in drafting well and it looks like dominance for the next 5 years and beyond.

nippleshorts is a clever fella

Especially when you consider that the year when Cam accounts for the biggest cap hit, 2016, is also the year we'll be keeping a relatively cheap Kuechly on his 5th year option. That structure sets up nicely for paying Cam and Luke without getting into salary cap hell.

If they're smart they're trying to re-sign Norman now.  He is primed for a career year and even a 2 year extension for him would be wise.  Even after Newton's extension the Panthers will still have north of $40 million in cap space in 2016 (none of which will count towards a new Kuechly contract since the Panthers used the fifth year option tag on him), and in 2017 when Charles Johnson and Jonathan Stewart both come off the books (and I doubt either are with the team past 2017), the Panthers currently have over $100 million in cap space in 2017.  You read that right....Panthers are in GREAT financial shape in the coming seasons.  Gettleman did an AMAZING job.  He knew he had to clear money for Cam and he did.

I agree but we also won't have many guys signed either. I think I saw somewhere earlier this yr that, under current contracts, we will have like 25 guys signed in 2017. So we still have a lot of players to sign. But I agree with you and I think signing Norman now would be a good idea. And Cam's contract while huge just might be team friendly in future signing perspective.

2017 is gonna be a doozy:

C. Johnson, Kalil, Luke, Star, KKShort, Ginn, Philly Brown all due then. Plus some others.

http://www.spotrac.com/nfl/carolina-panthers/

Kawann's contract is a 4 year contract, Star's is 4 with the team option.

KK will have to be taken care of before Star, actually.  Unless we choose not to use the 5th year option, which would be crazy.
