Opinion.. Panthers brass have concerns over KB, hence Funchess.

Please note the keyword here is OPINION.. The more and more I think about it, the more I think there could be some underlyimg concerns the FO and coaches have with KB and I think that is a lot of the reason we drafted Funchess.. This is the part the proverbial pitchforks come out, but I dont care what anyome says. The fact he put on 9-10 lbs for someone who isnt too speedy to begin with is worrisome..

It says a lot of things. First off, if KB was truly as dedicated during the off season, why was he not exercising enough or conditioning? Then you have the case of TWO hammy issues during OTAs and to make matters worse that was in BOTH legs.. Now here is where I will get push back but this has to be said..

Yes, I get the stats.. Over 1000 rec yds and what like 9-10 TDs?! While that is impressive I do think that one thing that gets overlooked on here is a lot of those yds did come during garbage time, and quite few of them when DA was under center because of garbage time. I watch every second of every single Panther game like clockwork and we had a lot of garbage time last year as a whole and I remember KB putting up a lot of numbers then ( Philly game is one game that comes to mind).

Also, there is no doubt he had a lot of mind numbing WTF drops.. The bottom line is this.. Do i think we are going to hear KB is going to be waived and Funchess takes his spot?! Ofcourse not! (Although im guessing by how some of you react, you will think thats what I am saying) I am simpy saying that after the report of his weight gain and then now the 2 hammy issues, im starting to get a tad bit concerned about KB and loving the Funchess pick more and more.

Also, if simply having a hamstring injury itself hints that a player supposedly may not be "dedicated", well it looks like a number of good players are or have been lazy bastards.

Only PanthersUnited could come up with such dreadfully idiotic logic.

The only concern they have with K.B is that he couldn't do it alone and needed some help to get the double teams off of him. Funchess is the other big WR they needed to compliment K.B. and give the other teams coverage fits. With Olsen and a speed guy like Ginn or Brown, they can now blow other teams up with coverage problems. K.B. will be here for a long time.

    • It is a tough decision.  There is another factor.  Is he in game shape?  A tired Hunt is not better than an "in-shape" Corbett.  When coming off an injury, it is natural to want to protect the injured area, even if it is completely healed.  This can cause you to contort your body for no reason, lose fundamentals, and it could lead to other injuries.  For example, I had a knee in high school that required getting taped.  That made me aware of the knee (not used to tape on my knee) and I pulled my groin (favoring or dragging the leg with the tape).  The trainer explained the groin injury the way I do here--but scared money makes no money.  If he is cleared to play, he is cleared to play.  Watch him, rotate him in for a series, etc.  Specifically, I would want to watch the matchup--who is winning more--Corbett or Hunt?  How is the defense reacting (if at all) to Hunt being in?  Etc.
    • Shannon was sued for $50 million (settled out of court, I believe) for forcing sex on his girlfriend during a two-year relationship.  He denies it, but ESPN let him go last April.  Chad Johnson's wife filed a police report because he head-butted her in a car and was put on probation. I had to google it.  I watched the Ray Rice video and when you see it, you realize just how vile and cowardly abusing a woman really is.  But for the same point Aussie tried to make, these women are defenseless, and being phyiscally bigger and stronger does not validate your actions.   I can't even stand to watch Steve Smith.  I can't normalize this kind of behavior--again, I do not think R-P had that in mind when he posted this.  When the reason was exposed, we should realize that we are talking life (quality of) and death (in some cases) here.
    • I can respect the fact that we should not glorify or normalize men who have a history of beating women.  I do not think anyone was thinking of that when they posted this, but if head-butting your wife and unconsensual sex (rape) is something you cannot overlook, I agree with that.  I think they are both half-crazed attention hounds regardless of their pasts.
