All-time Panthers duos

Thinking about how proud I am to have Luke and TD as Panthers got me to wondering how much the duo factor plays into it. Would I like them as much individually if the other wasn't there, whole greater than sum of the parts type thing?

Anyway, what are some of the top Panther duos of all time? Both on the basis of what they brought/bring to the team on the field and also general likeability pre/post-game and off field?

To me, a duo has a mutually beneficial relationship QB-WR, LB tandem, secondary teammates and so forth but doesn't necessarily have to be the case.

First two that came to mind for me were Salt and Pepper (Lathon and Greene).

Well, there's the obvious ones.

Jake/Smitty
Manning/Minter
Greene/Lathon/Mills (triplet, but still)
Beuerlein/Moose
Beuerlein/Walls
Mark Fields/Dan Morgan
Jenkins/Peppers
Williams/Stewart

Those are the big ones, to me.

I put Peppers with Rucker.

That's fair. I just thought Peppers and Jenkins complimented each other a bit more than did Rucker and Peppers. Jenkins drawing to to his side, Buckner and Peppers are left one on one on the other side if you don't have a TE to Peppers' side. But that whole DL during that time was unstoppable. Those were 4 men that every OL feared facing, because you KNEW that they were going to get to your QB at least a few times. It was a forgone conclusion.

I can understand that.

Williams and Stewart are as good as we've ever had. In the three full seasons (2008, 2009, 2011) they had together (more than Smith/Moose or Greene/Lathon, BTW) they had 7,305 total yards, a 5.2 YPC average and 60 TDs. That's roughly 2,400 yards and 20 TDs per season

    • Man, we're desperate around here.  I had to look at Peppers' stats to see if I'm missing something, but no, he's an average guy at best.  Nothing impressive at all in his stats.  He's not a true safety at all, and I'm kind of annoyed with the jack of all trades players at this point.  Of course I see the PFF scores and everything, but I'm old school.  I believe the stats tell more about the player than the analytics.  This ain't moneyball here. (haha)  The best players put up numbers.  And when I look at the numbers, Peppers is just another player running around on the field.
    • People see what they want.  I have also stated since the moment we drafted Bryce….a badly owned team was screwing HIM over by setting him up to fail by coach/scheme design.   Core criticism isn’t actually Bryce…it’s Carolina/front office.  I could see Bryce being good.  I could see Canales being good.  But I don’t see them as a pairing.  Football is about fit.  Board is doing what the board does.  People were idiots who dared question the All Star staff.  People raged when Fitterer was criticized.  They raged when Rhule was criticized.   Until they didn’t.
    • Yeah and to make it weirder Moehrig is a FS, Peppers is a SS.
