Will not report to camp and is on the will not report list. Why would you want to keep this guy around if he doesn't have the desire to play? Let him go and fill the spot with someone who actually wants a chance.

We put him on the "Did Not Report" list instead, his spot was filled earlier when we signed Wile and Capers...

My guess is he doesn't want to practice against the Dolphins and will be back for rest of the camp!

Hated the signing when it was first announced, despite needing all the help we can get at OT... hate it even more now.  Dude wasted everyone's time, and suddenly decides to retire literally days before training camp.

Someone else could've had this dude's spot and minicamp/OTA reps.

DG seemed really pissed about that when he spoke this morning. "Not going to go there" regarding whether Martin had an injury or not is interesting too. Seems Martin never told the team anything then out of nowhere he's like "I'm retiring and I have a back injury." Actually I kind of doubt he has any injury at all...

    • I wonder if they'd consider trading Rasheed Walker to a team that needs tackle help but missed out in the draft?
    • LOL. This is such a Panthers fan take.  Anyone who falls to us must suck because some other team didn't take them before.  We got lucky with Lemon, Thieneman, and Freeling all falling to us (honestly any of the three is a A+) but the WR and S positions are much deeper than the LT position in this draft.  We got the LT w/ the most upside at 19.  Mauigoa played RT in college and some think he is a guard in the nfl.  Spano played RT in college and some think he is a guard in the NFL due to short arms.  Blake Miller played RT in college and is not as good as Freeling.  Proctor is a true LT but his ability to handle quick edge's worries me (see Icky).  Freeling is a true LT and a gifted pass protector.  Many think he has a very high ceiling and will benefit from not having to start right away.  This is how you build a franchise.
    • After watching Cam get killed for years behind a bad Oline and having to watch the 2021 and 2023 Olines I will never complain about this team putting resources into that spot.  We got a true LT who could really push Rasheed Walker for the day 1 job. Go back and watch Iceky's draft profile from 2022 and all the talk was Ickey would be an all-pro guard in a zone blocking scheme, but he could play LT in a gap power run scheme. That's why Ickey looked really good when Wilks took over and we just started running gap run plays and just mauled people up front but under Canales we've been more of a zone running team. Ickey can survive at LT with his pass blocking but his true strength will always be his ability to just move guys in the run game and that's a skill set that's better used at guard.  Take another OT later on day 3 to learn from Moton to take over RT in a couple of years and let Walker and Freeling battle it out for the day 1 LT job then next offseason trade one of Hunt of Lewis and let Ickey move inside to guard.
