Guys, Corey Can Be Our #1!

I absolutely hate when people refer to Olsen as our 1. If he was our 1 before KB got hurt,   then he is our 1 now.  He's a TE for crying out loud.  He's a very good one at that,  but he isn't our WR1.

As for any WR not named Funchess (and I am seriously skeptical about that his rookie season), Lord help us.

The way I see #1 and #2 and #3, etc. is by the amount of targets. I include TEs in that, but you could choose not to. The #1 receiver on a team is the one who gets the most targets. KB led the team in targets with 24 more than Olsen last year, so in my eyes he is the #1. Olsen will probably lead the team in targets next year which would make him our #1. I'd guess Funchess after him then Brown then a tossup between Ginn, Cotch and Dickson even. Pretty worried about our passing attack this year. Going to have to really really hope Stew can play a whole season and our line can hold up.

All it's going to take is one of our guys to step up and the rest to do as well as they did last year and we will be fine.  Funchass coming in and doing no less than one might expect as a 2nd round rookie and I'll be happy.  If he does better than that it is just a bonus.

No need for doom and gloom yet.  I'll wait till the 2nd Monday after the bye week to start panicking.

    • I’m really having a hard time understanding how this actually went down. -Renfrow expected to make roster as 2nd/3rd string. -Panthers cut Renfrow; Keep Brycen Tremayne, and add UDFA receiver (Dalevon Campbell) to active roster.  -Canales/Morgan say it’s totally up to Hunter whether he wants to come back or not, they would love to have him.    -Renfrow not signed to PS -Panthers trade Adam Thielen -Hunter Renfrow signed to active roster with a raise after an injury to Coker nobody heard about and is likely to start.    Our WR room is now: -Xavier Legette (2024 1st round pick) -Tet McMillan (2025 1st round pick) -Hunter Renfrow (1 year out of the league) -David Moore (Canales’ friend? A guy way past his prime) -Jimmy Horn (Likely a Shi Smith reprint, but has potential 2025 6th round pick, weighs 174 lbs) -Brycen Tremayne (2023 UDFA who was on Washington’s PS for 2 years and caught 1 pass for -2 yards and averaged 300 yards per year at Stanford) -Dalevon Campbell (2025 UDFA had a good preseason but had 1463 yards and 3 TDs over 5 college seasons at 3 different schools). What the hell is going on?
    • Not uncommon for week 1 games. Especially against good defenses. It’s why I prefer my team play these small schools week 1 if they are going to play them. Gives the offense time to get calibrated.
