One thing to watch in JAX. Cruz/Beckham give warning of sorts

Neither Victor Cruz or Odell Beckham Jr. apparently cared for the way that the Jaguars were playing Beckham during their preseason game.  They basically intimated that the Jags were attempting cheap shots according to NFL.com's Dan Hanzus.

"From the line, you can see it as you're running your route and you're running a vertical route, and you take a peek at the safety before you look at the ball, and you just see him head down trying to spear you," Cruz explained. "You can see that from a mile away. He's a smart kid, he understands that, but it's just unfair. It kind of made me upset watching it."

Beckham agreed with Cruz's assessment.

"Man to man, if you have a chance to make a play, make it," Beckham told The Michael Kay Show on ESPN Radio (via ESPN.com). "Don't make a play on me."

No time for that poo against our receiving corps. Too bad our enforcer won't be out there.  I just hope that Funchess, Olsen, Cam and the rest of the gang are aware. I don't think that Cruz and Beckham are just being divas.

If they were trying to be divas, I wouldn't think it would be over a pre season game. Something worth watching.

Sigh... that used to simply be called "playing football".

Now, these receivers expect flags to fly every time they take a hit.

Seahawk DE Bennett was talking about that the other day....cry babies and average QBs paid like elite football players compared to actual good football players at other spots.

specifically mentioned Brady, Peyton and Cam as rare QBs who take hits like men and tell defenders nice hit....while the rest cry over every hit

    • Good game so far.  Solid trench battles, two young well built defenses, and my 2 fave coaches.  Stafford is really damn good.  SEA OL is overperforming.
    • Okay then. To me that means Russell Wilson was Coryell. Because I see the proposition completely in the Russell Wilson punt/pass put it up for grabs mold. Count on the receiver to catch it or knock it down.    And the reason I thought that was the intent with Legette is the abysmal downfield game from 2023. As in, there was barely any.   I look at it as if… the result of a deep attempt isn’t as important as the opponent understanding they have to defend it. So I was all for some 50/50s. Coryell, Walsh whoever.  I do favor the Coryell approach personally but also very much value versatility, it doesn’t have to be strict. Just make the defense defend the whole field, however you do it. It has to include downfield throws.
    • Sold, or in the process of being sold. Could be either way. Consider this for a second... Last season, our defensive coordinator steered what many have called the worst defense in NFL history.  Canales would absolutely have been justified in firing him, and no one would have blamed him if he had.  But what did he do? He gave Evero another chance to come back and prove he could be better. Does that tell us something about Canales? I think it does. Now apply that to Bryce 😕
