Typical shula

1st down . Run up the middle

2nd down. Run up the middle

3rd down . Hail mary.

4th down. Punt

And Lets not forget on 3rd and long he runs and 3 and short he calls a deep pass

actually, he calls passes on first down way to often for my liking.  Puts us 2nd in long way to much.

shula is ron's problem, ron's responsibility, ron's fault, ron's blind spot.

ron rivera is blind to shula's incompetency and it's possibly his most glaring flaw as a head coach.

Ron has had Shula for 2 years.  Ron had 2 division titles in 2 years.  Ron and don't exclude Gettlemen....both believe ball control is a way to win football games.  They have won.

They don't view that as a problem.

it's possible to win in spite of someone. we won two titles in spite of byron bell.

shula's worthlessness is overrated by some, and the fact is his quote is being taken out of context (he wasn't literally stating a desire to not score every play. the transcript said he even said it with a laugh.) however, he's clearly the weakest personnel link on the team, and his offenses have historically and contemporarily done very poorly, so naturally anything he says is going to be contextualized against that.

as it should be.

I agree he is the weakest coach by far.

I just think if you decide to bring in a ball control coach......b/c you want to win and play that way then you will always have a "weak" coordinator.  The bright minds of today aren't coaching ball control.

Last year was actually a losing season. People lose sight of that. If 7-8-1 was good for 3rd place in the division instead of playoffs, there would be way more talk of staff changes.

In 2013 we rode a #2 defense and Cam' s talent to the playoffs. In 2014 we hit a winning streak against other middling teams  in a weak division. That's nothing to be ashamed of, but its nothing to brag about either.

My feeling is you don't draft a QB #1 over to run a ball-control offense and skim on talent around him. If that's the way our franchise likes things, we should have rolled with Derek Anderson, drafted a lower round game manager QB, and let Cam fall to Buffalo or Cincy instead of waste his talent.

shula is probably the worst OC in the nfl (easily bottom 5). personally I don't see carolina winning a championship with him around. i hope i'm wrong on that but i seriously doubt it

really i just hope we dump him and find a legit OC before cam and all our defensive talent is over the hill and we're in rebuild mode

All I know is that you don't pay a QB 100+ mil contract for him to play in a fuggin ball control offense. If we were going to do that, then you might as well of let Cam walk and get a game manager for a third of the price. Use the man's strengths. Cam has been criminally misused and criminally deprived of weapons since he has gotten here. I just don't get why Rivera feels that you can't have a top offense and defense. Also, there is no reason why you can't hire a legit OC and still run a conservative offense who can actually execute it.

And IDK about you all, but I STILL don't believe in Rivera as head coach either. 1 winning season out of 4 doesn't really scream good to me.
