Early in Steve Smith's career, he had a terrible preseason chock full of dropped passes

I don't know if people actually believe this, or just giving him EXTREME confidence. He didn't prove a damn thing. He went over 50 yds ONE time, he only caught two TD's, and he even had some similar drops last year. I'm sorry, but if a one year sample size where he didn't even eclipse 300 yards "proved" himself, then I now know why our franchise remains mediocre.

it's not just the numbers. I've seen him make hand catches and he runs some incredible routes.

I said it in another thread. I think he is not mentally prepared to be put in this position since KB went down a la some people are meant to be Sal not Tony Soprano.

i re watched the Seattle game and he moved the chains for us and made DBs look silly WITH hand catches.

i think Corey is just freaking out because he thinks he needs to be THE GUY.

I'm hoping he gets it together especially when Funch comes back. We're gonna need him badly.

All the more reason they should give Boykin a chance with Cam and move either Philly down to #3 or 4. Boykin has actually been put in a position where he had to be a #2 for a while, and filled in nicely, even having 2 100+ games. The ability is there.  I don't know why this coaching staff is viewing Boykin as a scrub and continually trying to build up Philly. Like you said, some people just aren't meant to be the top dog.

I 100% disagree with "we dont have the WRs to cut him"

Funchess

Ginn

Cotchery

Boykin

Bersin

Ginn easily fills the speedy WR role Brown would have had only more reliable. If Ginn goes down. Byrd, step right up. This notion that Brown is not dispensable and is a lock is mind boggling

How would you describe the Pats coverage of Ginn overall in last nights game? How did the Pats DBs do against Ginn? Now compare that to Brown. Any difference? Do you think has Ginn has slowed down over the years? Who runs more and better routes? I'm asking these questions because your answers will reveal why we disagree. I'm interested in your view since you seem to live and breath Panther football, although for some reason you're usually extremely negative.

Steve Smith had a preseason full of dropped passes early in his career? Sure can not find it, which is why coaches had to take notice after wanting to pigeon hole him as a returner.

Fubar Brown failed as a returner and is now failing as a WR. How long to do you ride this downward spiral? The teams that keep moving forward would bury him on the depth chart or cut him. How do you think the Panthers got Boykin, because the Packers know how to keep growing and feeding their team with talent while not waiting on players to come around. A career is too short to waste time on at the pro level. Especially with the new CBA.

    • Personally I think he's a nightmare to cover I think linebackers generally aren't fast enough to keep up with him in coverage and cornerbacks don't have the strength to tackle him one-on-one in physically bring them down which would normally lead to a broken tackle or a nasty stiff arm or just bully ball play sure you could find a receiver with comparable speed like Cooper but he's faster than Cooper sure you can find a wide receiver that is the same size but he's probably More powerful than them and a better blocker.  The size speed athleticism package that he is in is completely unique it's easier to say I'd rather have just a big blocker because we've never seen this type of profile before I'm a risk taker I think you would be God blessed if this was there at 19 I think if you can get a guy that's a tight end who immediately becomes the fastest guy on your offense and at the same time that third wide receiver that can stretch and burn defenses over the top that's the perfect what the Panthers need type weapon.
    • I think you're under selling Sadiq. They are two different players in terms of how they win. Loveland is 2 inches taller maybe 5-6 pounds heavier. Comparing his speed to sadiq.. well your comparing a 4.7 guy to a 4.3 guy I'm seeing a guy that can take a bubble screen from the tight end position and turn it into a house call. I'm not saying the guy is a certified home run pick but I don't think there's really a president's for a comparison for this kind of athlete. It's easy to say this doesn't look like Warren or Loveland because we haven't seen guys that fit this profile The closest you might be able to get is Vernon Davis.  He's not as sure far as those guys were but at 19 I think almost everybody is going to have some warts and he's a lottery ticket of could be top 10 in the draft player or could fail I am more of a risk taker I think he fits the athletic profile that could be a homerun, like I said he's almost 40 lb bigger than Cooper and like 4-5 in taller than Cooper so and he's faster. So whatever you think Cooper gives you I think he does that and more. If you want to go with one of the office alignment I can understand that as well but for value as a receiving threat I don't think there's a bigger value at number 19.
    • I’ve haven’t seen anything that says we have interest in Njoku?
