I don't post much like I used to around here (thanks to obscene amounts of work) but reading the insane turnaround on the Huddle regarding Corey Brown has made my eyes hurt from rolling.

Here are some simple facts:

- His drops hurt his case, big-time. Such is life in pro football.

- He's still a player and coach favorite.

- He's going to get every opportunity to prove he can get past this issue with drops.

- He's almost certainly going to get past them and be a key player now and in the future for us and any calls for his head are both premature and short-sighted.

What gets continuously overlooked in the bitching about his drops is that he was open repeatedly and generally running excellent routes. That is far more of the battle than reeling the ball in, even Kelvin had his repeated issues with drops and yet we're all about to give up on the season without him. It is hilarious how so many chowderheads up here seem to imagine that removing one of the few receivers Cam has any familiarity with and trusts in key situations is somehow going to improve the team, particularly since there isn't any immediate upgrade available nor will one magically appear on the waiver wire since even the most talented player is going to need a lot of seasoning to acclimate to our offense and Cam's timing.

Corey will be fine. We'll be better for it. Chill out.

That's the problem.

Let's just say I put faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaar more weight on the opinion of coaches and players on the team than I ever would in the opinions of anyone on the Huddle. You know, since their jobs actually depend on this person's performance and would be best inclined to know who gives them the best chance to win.

But...it's still concerning because at this point it's a mental thing to me.  He should and will get his chance to snap out of it over the first few weeks of the season.  If he doesn't by then...it's no longer asinine and time for a revaluation.

Only question is whether he has the yips or not. If he does, cut him. If not, he'll bounce back against Pittsburgh. Looking abysmal in 2 straight preseason games and in practice is absolutely concerning. He has a LOT riding in this preseason game and tons of pressure doesn't seem very conducive to curing the yips. We'll see. I'm rooting for him because, yes, he does have a lot of talent.

agree. i've never seen the huddle turn on a player so ferociously as i did that night. i think everyone's still raw-assed about kelvin benjamin so what would've been a "damn corey call it a night and give it another shot next week man" became "AIRMAIL THIS FUCKSTICK TO ABU DHABI" in the blink of an eye.

corey brown is a young player with a high ceiling simply by the fact that he's incredibly shifty and runs routes extremely well. he is particularly valuable on quick outs and five-step curls because he can shift his momentum so quickly. he's also a damn good blocker for being built like a popsicle stick.

he'll contribute this year.

Think about how little he actually contribute last year. Ok he ran a punt return back for a TD. But the dude only had 296 receiving yards. At best he is a 3rd or 4th tier receiver. The fans are tired of the Byron Bell types that keep getting a roster spot because they are a coaches favorite.

      I look at it like get on top of the situation. Stay ahead of it. If it costs you a year of not drafting a starter at number three WR in the first so be it. We need new blood there in 2027 if not 2026, and need to get some OL on rookie deals.   At the same time the big picture is considered, we have a QB that has yet to earn an extension and you can go glass half full if you want but he had about half the good games that he needed to have. Fewer, IMO, but the point is he is not a lock to earn an extension.    Which would really put next year’s number one in play for QB and take OT off the table. So I think it needs to be on the table this year.
