If God exists he must be sick and twisted.

First off, sorry if the title offends anyone.  Gonna vent for a sec as I have no other avenue to do so at the moment.  I lost my faith years ago when my mom passed.  My mom had always been sick and has had cancer, polio, diabetus, CHF (Congestive Heart Failure), kidney problems, etc.  Towards the end of her life she had been struggling with CHF and her kidneys and was more or less suffering.  I prayed daily for my mom to get better and watched as she only got worse.  The last time I prayed to end my moms suffering.  One week later, my moms CHF got really bad and her kidneys were failing.  The nurses at the hospital knew my mother and everything about her.  My mom needed a breathing tube but didnt not want one.  The Dr in charge of her ordered a Xanax to calm her down so they could put in the breathing tube.  The nurse told the Dr that he could not give my mom Xanax because her blood pressure will bottom out and they will never get it back.  The Dr was ignorant and basically said hes in charge and to do what he says.  My moms blood pressure plummeted, she went into cardiac arrest and died.

My father has developed chronic CHF as well and was showing symptoms of it 2 weeks ago.  I called paramedics and he needed to go but refused.  Paramedics said the only thing I could do was wait for him to become unresponsive because they can not transport him against his will.  Yesterday morning that happened and my dad is now in ICU with CHF but also with an unknown cause of his hemoglobin only being 4.  Basically he only had 1/4th the amount of blood in his body he is suppose to have.  He needed 4 blood transfusions and the doctors are puzzled to where the blood went.

To the reason for the topic,  my father is at CMC, not a small hospital with an entire floor of ICU rooms.  My father is in the same room that that dr murdered my mom 6 years ago this month.

Blaming God is a sign of immaturaty. I   Lost someone close to cancer. This experience will only make you stronger as a person.

Being emotional at a time when your remaining parent is in trouble is just that, being emotional.  Would not call it immature.  I agree that prayer, God, sickness, etc are not push button issues or cures, but adding insult, or what looks like insult, is not the best route to take

Life really sucks some times and other times it's great. Personally I don't believe there is some thing out there in charge of everything. If that's what you believe then stick to it and figure out how to make the best of our situation. Like others have said spend all your time with your father, I wish I had this knowledge when I was in your shoes.

I came to the conclusion a long time ago that if I was going to choose to believe in God that I had to also believe that (s)he was an entity that didn't answer prayers.  I couldn't reconcile a deity that ignored the pleas of someone who was trying to "save" a parent or child or spouse in favor of someone who was getting a 200 yard rushing game with 4 TDs.

I choose to believe in a supreme being, but I don't think he/she gives a fug what we want.

Sorry to hear that dude. Seems like you've been through a lot of rough poo. If you need to talk, let me know and I'll clear my PM box that's been full since 2010.

I don't want to get into a debate about this but I've been off the Jesus juice ever since my church going neighborly uncle died in a house fire. Also I know too many people my age who are religious and are self serving people with no real philanthropic views, and they brandish their little cross or St. Gerard like it's some kind of get out of hell free card. I try to be a better person than them and I don't have a faith. It's called the athiest's wager. Look it up. Chknwng touched on it in the title.

Hey brother sorry to hear.

As many differences as we all have, that is the one thing that binds us. No matter where we are from or what we look like we ALL have suffering. No way around that. I've had a lot of bad cases in my life friends/family but what's important is that you know others have been there to and I feel for you. It's  unfortunate but it's the life cycle. We can all get through it together as long as we know we got someone. Keep pounding brother.

As I like to say .. Keep grindin!

    • overall agree on the draft grade as a whole on on each pick, but every time I read (and I have read it more than once) that we "gave up two firsts" for Bryce, I am confused. We gave up the 2024 first, but we swapped 2023 firsts, so we didn't give up anything there. We did give up our former first rounder in DJ, but I don't think thats what you mean as one of the "firsts" we gave up.
    • Didn't  see this posted (since 2023) but since folks have been posting that you can't judge a draft class for three years (a ridiculous take), I thought I'd post this to see what people thought about the 2023 draft. Unfortunately this may not be the most interesting class to do this with but I do quite like retrospective draft grades. Would appreciate other's takes on this (and other recent) draft classes.   1(1) - Bryce Young QB: I am a bigger Bryce Young apologist than most (maybe all). I like the kid. But there is no way around it: This was a terrible pick. If he had been picked in the 4th or even the 3rd round I would feel pretty good about it. But this was the first overall pick that we gave up two firsts, our best offensive player to get.  GRADE: C -    2(39) - Jonathan Mingo WR: not much to say here here. He was here for two years. His yards per catch are on par with Bryce's yards per pass. Rough stuff. To date he has still never scored a touchdown in the NFL GRADE: F   3(80) - DJ Johnson OLB: a pick I hated as soon as it happened and an example of why the premise of this thread is honestly dumb. This was a bad pick when it happened. Most people knew it.  Then came training camp and he did not look good. Then came the preseason which confirmed what we saw in TC. Then came the season which confirmed what we saw in preseason. To date, he has half a sack in his career. GRADE: F 4 (114) Chandlers Zavala G: Honestly the best pick of this draft which really speaks to how awful this draft is. Other than Bryce, the only pick still on the team. He is mostly average or below average depth which in round 4 is not terrible. But he had a pff score of 43.5 and though I think people have unrealistic expectations for draft picks, I still would want a little more from a fourth round pick GRADE: C+   5 (145) - Jammie Robinson S: I liked the pick when it happened but ended up being a disappointment. He logged 1 tackle with the falcons last year and not enough snaps to get a grade on PFF.  GRADE: F OVERALL DRAFT GRADE: F
