our starting WR's for Jax

Captain Morgan

I'd laugh really hard if Norwood somehow picks up the offense quickly and takes over the starting position.

But in reality it isn't as bad as people make it out to be. Olsen is still the #1, Ginn is dangerous on the outside. Philly in the slot, now that he's back to being called that. Funchess can be eased in a little bit. With the offensive line playing well, giving Cam time. Then Cam improving on his footwork and adding touch to his passes, this may turn out to be just enough to beat the Jags. The more live experience they get the better, we'll have to rely on the defense to spark the offense once again. Once the players buy in and know their roles, things will be a lot easier. The importance here is cohesion.

Hope Jax has a fast secondary.

I'm not worried, that's a lot of speed on the outside to open up things for Greg and whomever else.

I hope, but Funchess is really gonna have to have a special season, much like KB's last year. I know that's asking a lot from the rookie, but we really need Funchess to be able to get open over the middle and bring the ball down for big gains over opposing safeties.

Funchess has not had anytime with the offense, Cothery still hurting and Norwood just signed last week. Who else do you think is going to start?

I do feel Funchess will be splitting time but will not get the start. I am hoping to see a few snaps for Norwood.

If the the oline plays like they did in the preseason I think all of WRs will have a good game. But who knows. We may also get to see a ample dose of our run game like we saw against Pittsburg. Truthfully I am hoping to see the latter. Nothing like pounding the football down the other teams throat.

It will ing e hard to replace Smith's presence that year. Hey was a key to the formula, but honestly his major contributions that year were crucial 3rd and 4th down catches instead of his usual 180 yard games.

He also benefitted from Ginn on the other side drawing coverage deep. I think we can have a similar success as long as we can replace those crucial 3rd and 4th down catches that Smith made that year. Olsen can help. I hope Funch has good hands too...

i'm talkIng more about pre snap and how the defense set up because Smitty was there.. Teams still respected him enough not to stack the box and have LB's and Safeties keep their eye on him... And no Ginn benefited from playing with Smitty not the other way around .... When has Ginn produced with out Smitty? ? Even when Smitty got hurt that year what did Ginn do??

You left the part out about Ginn & Philly having hands made out of stone. Ginn/Philly at WR is equally as bad as Bell/Chandler at OT.

You're reading too much into things. Philly, before this preseason, caught the ball. Albeit with his body but he caught it. Ginn fixed his issues with his drops. He hasn't dropped passes as much as in the past. So I don't get where you're implying that they have hands of stone. You can look at their drops and see they aren't as bad as you make them out to be. The only thing here that would be a concern is catch radius. Cam is sporadic with his throws, so having huge wide outs with big catch radius' was the ideal thing. But if you have not noticed, Ginn has chemistry with Cam and has caught long bombs from him. They aren't the best starting duo in the league but I think people are making this out to be worse than it really is.

Ginn was in Arizona pliying with scrub QBs on a scrub team. Yes it helped Ginn that he lined up opposite Smith, but it is maily Cam that attributed to Ginn's success.

I dont think our passing game will be as good as it was that year, but I think that if we play good defense, can run the ball effectively and can catch a 3rd down conversion now and again I think this can be a 3peat NFCS team. We can also beat Jacksonville with this formula (kinda was getting away from the thread there)

that word "catch" scares me...

what were Ginn's numbers in the falcon game when Smitty was hurt and didn't play??

seriously i don't know...

Thank you....good god both of these guys Cam likes to throw to.  This will open up all sorts of things for us.  Even if they have a drop or two.  DEFENSES have to respect the speed.

Prediction Cam lead the NFL in big plays after week 1.
