Rivera: "Feel really good about Norwood this week, will play 20 plus snaps."

Not only are there other threads on this. But there are about 10 of them. Is Kevin Norwood like a younger clone of Jerry Rice or are we so bad at WR that we have to obsess over a 4th round pick who was traded from a team that is almost just as bad at WR as us for scraps?

I hope he does well but is he really worth all this excitement?

We're really just that desperate for someone to step up at WR.

Baldwin, Kearse, Lockette, Matthews > than Panthers receivers while Ginn and Brown are the starting options.

I mean guys here were just obsessed just a month ago by an UDFA named Philly, "I mean Corey, wait I mean Philly" Brown.

So yeah I can definitely see posters excited over a receiver with seemingly more pedigree, size, and potential.

I told you after that preseason game that he was going to play a bigger than expected role.  I told you the other day that he would probably play sooner rather than later. Once he gets on the field,  he will play that Doug Baldwin role for us this year,  and he will do it better than Baldwin does for the Seahawks. Believe me and be pleasantly surprised.

    • I've shown you numerous comps for other tackles in the same age and talent range.  His contract, taking into account his age, health, etc.  is the going rate.  It's a fair deal. I've shown you examples of how long it usually takes to find even an average replacement.  Hell, look at every tackle that has ever started for the Panthers.  How many would you consider a success?  They are not easy to find. After everything we've done with this team since drafting Bryce why would we decide to let our best linemen go and add a huge question mark at tackle?   FA is a crapshoot in which any guy available will have cons/issues.  If not, they'll cost a fortune.   Outside of a first or maybe 2nd round pic next year it'll take a few years for a tackle to learn the position at the NFL level.  There are still questions about Icky. Every vet NFL player deals with maintenance.  Between the contract value and history I'm not overly worried about his knee.  I contend his knee issue isn't anything to be overly worried about.  It's not zero risk but it's an acceptable risk.  Every player we draft and every contract we sign has risk.  You're blowing up his own negative words about his knees and ignoring him saying he is healthy and the knee is a non issue.  You have a strong chicken little complex with this team.  Being he has always been a Panther they are very aware of any health issues. We paid now because now is cheaper.  If his knee was really an issue they would have waited.  That tells me it's not the issue you want it to be.
    • Sauls getting cut by Steelers if no trade happens.
    • No they are going to give Claudin Cherelus 2 spots.
