Should the Panthers make any moves over the bye week?

Never ever trade anything to a guy who's a free agent next year.

Partial year rentals make no sense in the NFL.

That's essentially what we are doing with Allen unless he takes a big pay cut. No way we are going to pay him $8.5M next year. He looked old and slow yesterday with zero burst off the line.

I honestly think that because this argument has been made so much and the sides are so deeply entrenched that people dont even listen to reason anymore

"Anquan boldin haha? He slow brah gimme fast corey brown any day"

Got this "football historian" flaming just because an argument was raised. It's a legitimate concern that should be talked about in a civil way with the options that are out there. The purpose of this op is ambiguous at the moment because the forefront of conversation seems to be what won't work. Instead of arbitrarily negating ideas, maybe electing some possible solutions would help?

Could you imagine if somebody had proposed we trade for jared allen a week agp?

"This isnt madden bro hahaha kid"

"old never really all that good slow, overrated"

"ha and you want to pay him money? What about our cap space?"

"Bro go play your madden, real GMs dont look at names"

" lololol we would have to cut somebody no way madden guy"

"madden"

"john madden football"

"if its in the game, its in the game"

You mean like this?

This is some homer-esque bullpoo. You do understand the lack of WR depth in our offense right?

yeah olsen was a free agent the following year when we traded for him

what a dumb move that was huh

He signed a five year extension the day he was traded.

You'll find just about anytime a team trades for a guy on the last year of his contract, they'll have hammered out an extension ahead of time.

Otherwise it's hardly worth it.

I'm just wondering how the people asking for trades would react if we can't sign KK, Star or Norman next year because we got Anquan fugging Boldin to turn us into immediate Superbowl contenders. Really, how far removed from current NFL can you be and still call yourself a fan?

uhhh who wants to trade for boldin?

he'd be at best a marginal upgrade and not any kind of long term solution. definitely not worth giving up draft picks/cap space and having to go through the period of integrating him into the offense

You realize Boldin is a FA next year and has already got paid by his former team, right?  At most, the team would probably give up a low pick, JUST like we did Jared Allen.

yeah no shtt, that's why your whole "never trade for a guy that's a free agent next year" statement is completely wrong. you just workout an extension during the trade negotiations, not complicated here
