Josh's taunt & TD's hit = Odell's punch?

Odell punched Buffalo safety Duke Williams in their game this past Sunday and was fined $8,681.00  Here is the video

Odell upset he was legally de-cleated during INT return

Josh was fined the same amount for waving at Jags QB while heading to the endzone. TD Sr. was also fined the same amount for landing on a player late. Is it just me or does it feel like Odell is getting exceptionally light treatment when compared to our guys? If the NFL would add a game or two suspension to Odell's fine, it would seem more fair, but as it is, seems like a large-market team's player is getting preferential treatment from the league again.

i don't think the nfl is actively deciding that these actions are equivalent. the penalty probably encompasses a wide variety of offenses and penalizes them uniformly, regardless of where on the scale of bad to awful the offense actually falls.

maybe the nfl should review that policy though.

Unless it could be argued that he hurt a big tough football player's feeling so much it felt like a late hit or a punch, Norman's "offense" wasn't even in the same realm. TD's late hit probably was on par with the punch (if not worse, if you actually saw the punch...).

Damn, I didn't realize you had to cough up 17 grand for a horse collar tackle.  But I don't see taunting on this list.

That list only encompasses offenses against officials and player safety rules violations. Taunting would be under a separate section not shown in the image that would also include offensive celebrations like Von Miller's thrusting.

unless it is something outside the box/game....all actions and punishments are spelled out pretty clear in regards to actual "football" fines/punishments.

also, you could easily argue what Davis did was much more dangerous than Beckham.

Those fines seem pretty tiny considering what these guys make and that some of these offenses can end someones season or career.

Median salary in the NFL is only $800k-ish. Only the select few who make it to their 2nd contract make huge money. 1% of their entirely yearly income is pretty significant.

    • Another Guard?? Small ball was just a meme right?????   Again can anyone confirm Kon had more than 2 dunks for the season?? I watched more highlights and saw lots of layups. Did see one thunder dunk tho...   Jeff just needs to finish this off-season with a guard package trade for a PF/C. Call Portland, that's a start!
    • XL treatment is in the top 5 What The Fuccks for the the huddle. It just happens that the 32nd team and 33rd team GMs knew each other very well. Panthers viewed the 5th year option as being worth a late 6th and a trade was made to make XL a 1st rounder.  He had injuries in OTAs, mini camp and TC. Like others had more injuries in season and just kept playing. Half the season was bad BY and dalton. He still had 500 yds, 5 TDs, and like 45 recs.  Just super weird the treatment. BTW people love to focus on the bad plays, but there was only one WR that caught a TD on the AP NFL Defensive Player of the Year, can you guess who that was?? By many accounts the Pats wanted XL badly and had to select Polk instead, there's strong rumors that Polk is either going to be cut or traded for a 2078 7th rounder. Panthers could have easily been in this situation if not for the Bills allowing the trade up. It pays to have friends.... I feel XL will force some fans to plates of raccoon as he develops. (please stay healthy)
