Who's the best in the NFC?

You know why Green Bay's offense was embarrassed last night?  Because they were on the road facing an elite defense.  Guess what next week is - Green Bay on the road, facing an elite defense.

They'll be more primed coming off a bad loss, and our pass rush will have to step up to fill those gaps that A-Rod typically dances around in until he finds someone open, but make no mistake, we have the ingredients to get that win.

Beat the Colts and we still don't have a victory over a team with a winning record. Beat the Packers and it's because they fell apart/beat themselves. Therefore we're still pretenders.

Have faith. Our streak of disrespect really can continue with a little spin help from the media.

Yeah we're going to have to demolish Indy, which really isn't our style, to get the nod as best in the NFC.  Packers will still be considered the best.  They had a bad game against a good team....it happens.  Still can't believe how bad Green Bay looked though.  I thought for sure they were the team to beat in the NFC, but you can't lose like that.

GB's defense has a ton of issues this year.  Remember, they just let Rivers and a BAD Chargers team rack up over 500 yards on them as well.

Well at least for the next 24 hours or so we're the #1 seed. I'm pretty sure we'll still be the #1 seed for another week after that, and hopefully after the Green Bay game as well.

If the rest of the NFL stood still, we could drop both of these next two games (to be at 6-2), and still be head of Atlanta in the division. I enjoy sitting pretty!

    • DeAngelo Williams: 1515 yards (2008) Steven Davis: 1444 yards (2003) Christian McCaffrey: 1387 yards (2019) Chuba Hubbard: 1195 yards (2024) Jonathan Stewart: 1133 yards (2009)   DeAngelo Williams 1515 yards in 2008 are most in Panthers history for a season this was when Double Trouble was at it's height. That year he averaged 94 yards a game. Steven Davis missed 2 games 2003 so he comes in at the most yards per game in a season at 103 yards. Mccaffrey averaged 86 yards a game in his 2019 campaign he also recorded 1005 yards receiving making his season statistically the best in Panthers history for a RB, had the Panthers had a better record he could have been a favorite for MVP. Dowdle currently is averaging 81 yards a game despite only starting 3 games thus far. In the games he has started 206, 183, 130 he's averaging 173 yards. In Green Bay he rushed for 130 despite having a 21 yard run wiped out due to illegal procedure penalty that could of saw a 150 yard day.    Top 5 yards per carry. Dowdle 5:6 (2025) Williams: 5.5 (2008) Stewart: 5.1 (2009) Mccaffrey: 4.8 (2019) Hubbard: 4.7 (2024) If Dowdle continues even close to the pace he's on he's poised to break DeAngelo Williams single season Panther rushing record.
    • The BY9 situation is classic sunk cost fallacy. We traded premium assets to get him. Every few games he flashes the traits that made him appealing (quick reads, touch, composure) but the macro picture doesnt lie. Hes producing at a bottom-tier level across efficiency metrics in yards per attempt, EPA/play, completion percentage over expected, and explosive plays. Instead of objectively reassessing, the organization continues to justify the investment - new coaches, new systems, new excuses - trying to salvage what was invested. Giving him a 5th year is a self inflicted would.  We need to take our lumps and move on
