NFL refs botch another late-game call during 'Monday Night Football'

I don't remember ever spending so much time waving my hands around wondering what the hell officials are thinking as I have so far this season.  At least the replacement officials had the excuse of being replacements.

Part time officials with no real accountability for being awful is not the right way to be doing this if the idea really is to get it right.

Don't be surprised if the league says that the in bounds catch that stopped the clock was wrong but nothing could be done to correct it because the clock had been stopped.

I was so pissed about that call, more than the subjective calls, because sideline calls are so black & white. Shouldn't be guessing, they should not ever be the wrong call.

Really don't think there was enough evidence to overturn that catch.

The clock being stopped when Whalen was tackled in bounds was inexcusable. I was yelling like crazy about that.

You could see the ball move and his arm/hand was not under it at the time.

I mean,  hell.   The damn ball hit the ground..  he never had control over the ball, if he did,  his left hand/arm wouldn't have fell off the ball as the ball fell to the ground,    His right hand was just on the side of the ball as it tumbled to the ground,  loosely.    Basically the dude used the ground to catch the ball.

What about a few plays after that play?    The playclock was about to expire on the Colts......   then it mysteriously went blank,  and the ref said they were having technical issues,  when they got it back up and running,  Colts had another 25 seconds to think things through.

the series before the 4th down dirt ball was an even bigger gift....when we picked up a first down after Indy used all their timeouts.

Oh yeah, forgot the situation on that...  which is the same play when i said Walden should've been thrown out of the game.

That was absolutely atrocious and the most blatant example of them trying to give the Colts the game.

I just had a horrible uneasiness once they let Andre Johnson have that TD catch despite that historic offensive PI he committed, and felt like they were about to help them back into the game.

at least they didn't call a penalty after a review, so they got that going for them, which is nice.

I, for one, was wishing Rivera would challenge SOMETHING on that Andre Johnson TD and bring to their attention the pushoff, since you can do that now.

    • Over previous years? Sure is 😆
    • An odd little vibe I've noticed here of late: some folks are "all or nothing" to an absolutely extreme level when it comes to Bryce. Here's a bit of truth telling though: There are, in fact, things Bryce does well. Likewise, there are areas in which he's improved over his time here. He has, on several occasions now, legitimately helped us win games. On the flipside, there have been failures in other areas as well as coaching that we're not in any way his fault.  And finally , it is also genuinely possible that the team may see him as the future, even if we don't. The craziest part, though? It's actually possible that they're right and we're wrong. All of this is true, and more, yet if you accept any of these premises people go from zero to apesh-t in under three seconds 😳 Anything less than total disavowal of Bryce and / or agreement that he's the worst QB of all time and suddenly you're a "stan". Oy 🙄 The reality though?  Bryce is indeed an NFL quarterback. Not a great one, probably backup level good, and I've seen way worse. Now, if you run that statement through your personal Google translator and it comes back with some version of "I want to throw 50 million a year at Bryce for the next 10 years", that's not really my issue it's yours  I don't wanna make him the franchise quarterback, but it's not my call. Win or lose, the team is going to do what they think is best. And as always, if it disagrees with what I think we should do, I'm gonna hope I'm the one who's wrong. Internet clout means nothing. Watching my favorite team win at my favorite sport meas fun 😁
