What's worse?  These guys:

Or what we have on the roster now?  Mind you, Greg Hardy was on the 2013 team as well.

And that team could actually rush the passer on a consistent basis.

Tillman hasn't been healthy for a few years now with one thing or another, should have expected it. Every team has a weakness and this is ours at this time. The best teams find ways to fight through it and win. Just be glad that we aren't in panic mode like the Bengals are......that's a playoff killer.

That's kind of what I was thinking, you lose Hardy, but Josh Norman is now JNo. Luke is light years better in coverage. add Shaq, KK and Star on DL. I think we're at least as good overall with what we have. This is going to be a don't let them get behind you scheme, I'd guess. I remember in 2013, we'd give up yards, but once we got you on the short field in the red zone we were able to play our game and not allow points.

Our defense is much more mature too, I think McDermott will have to dial it back a notch in essence.

I feel as if people are going to start freaking out a little bit.  Yea, we lost Bene and we've been playing without Tillman, but this team is 13-0.  You're going to tell me that the team is worried?  I don't think so.  The guys stepping up now have been playing against undefeated starters all year long in practice.  They have the same mentality that the starters have.  Let's not forget that we also have Kurt playing lights out, a linebacker core that is probably the best in the league, and a pretty damn good defensive line.  Oh, and we still have Norman covering the other team's number 1.

We're going to be fine.

Yup, people need to chill out, all this really means on the field in any given week is that someone new lines up opposite J-no. The rest of the defence is exactly the same.

you can say what you want about depth, but we have 6 games left to play this season. We need one corner to fill in behind a good line and with a great coverage linebacker and safety to support for this 6 games.

    • TBH, these are the kind of players that get weeded out of professional sports pretty quickly. Also, CMC is not that guy. There is zero indication that he isn't competitive.
    • I like the free agency. It actually helps basically all schools across the board. Pretty much only ancient HC's and/or HC's that haven't been able to adjust have been complaining about the free agency. Your fortunes can be made or broken every offseason. It's not like before where a bad recruiting class or two meant multiyear purgatory.  I will never understand all the bellyaching about the NIL. If you want to talk about what ruined college athletics, it has been naked greed. Conference expansions for TV revenue, ever skyrocketing AD and facilities costs and now the attempts to permanently ruin the postseasons(football and basketball).  All the kids did was get a very well deserved piece of a very, very, VERY broken pie.
    • Nobody is saying they don't count against the cap, because yes, they technically do count against the cap as it's money the team is paying and it needs to be accounted for. But what you're not grasping it seems is that if a player gets $10 million guaranteed in their contract, whether they get literally $0 as a signing bonus or $8 million as a signing bonus, it doesn't change the overall cap hit of the contract, because cap hits are about the guaranteed money, not how much is paid up front. The only thing that how much is paid up front changes, is how the cap hit can be spread out amongst the years. So yes, technically there could end up being a slightly bigger cap hit in year 3 and 4 due to a bigger signing bonus, but if that is the case, it also means there will be a lesser cap hit in years 1 and 2 than there would have been with a smaller bonus.  But over the length of the contract, the size of the signing bonus has literally zero affect on the overall cap hit of the contract, because THAT part of it is 100% about the guaranteed money and nothing else.
