Can/Will the NFL suspend Norman?

I saw that the league was looking at possible disciplinary action for Norman too. My question is do you think the league can/will suspend Norman if he did indeed say those things to OBJ, and they have video proof?

Do you think this will completely change the way the mental battle between players is played? Obviously Norman hit a soft spot somewhere and if he did say it and video is released, the PC crowd will be calling for punishment and the league could fold into it. He'll obviously be punished in some shape or form.

Richie Incognito was suspended for a full season, by the dolphins, for what he said to Martin. A league punishment would be significantly smaller, but something tells me they would overdo it and suspend Norman for the final 2 games.

No on the J-No suspension. What in the wide world of sports does Richie Incognito have to do with anything? Please don't answer that rhetorical question and my apologies if I sound demeaning ahead of time.

Incognito was suspended for using slurs and discriminating against his teammate. He was suspended for a full season.

Norman using anti gay slurs could be seen as discrimination by homosexual support groups and they could push for punishment and the NFL could fold. Whether you want to believe it or not, both slurs are equally discriminating.

Let me make it clear that I don't think Norman said it and this is just an attempt by OBJ and the giants to push the blame and play the victim card. BUT alot of things are said on the field that we don't know, and if Josh did say it, there WILL be some type of punishment and a backlash from groups calling for more than fines.

Just wondering if you guys think the League would take it that far.

Man...incognito was texting slurs, harrassing Martin and using hazing tactics.

What does this have anything to do with J-no talking smack in one game against a foe.

go post this bs in one of the other 20-threads about this stupid bs...just stop talking/thinking about it.

Just ignore it and it will go away. Stupid-ass thread and I am ashamed of myself for posting in it.

They couldn't find the evidence that Houchuli told Cam he was too young to get that call, so why would something turn up? That's IF Josh did say anything. It's just Odell's word that he did, and his credibility is shot.

Look, it's New York. They deny, deny, deny. And if the evidence is overwhelming, such as clear video proof that most of the nation saw live, then deflect, deflect, deflect. Odell earholing Josh is undeniable. So the only thing they can do is write up these character assassination hit pieces to try to salvage some silver lining out of the wreckage. It won't work. Josh will probably get a fine, but he's playing the Falcons in 5 days, unless the concussion doctors say the earhole shot he took puts him in the concussion protocol.

Incognito was texting Martin and that was the evidence to suspend Incognito. I'm sure if Josh had been texting taunts to Odell, that would be used as the proof of harassment instead of being frightened by a bat and alleged slurs.

If there were slurs that were easily heard the officials should and typically will call a 15 yarder for taunting.  So it obviously wasnt that noticeable.  Because they did call 3 penalties on Beckham after the first quarter when everyone was told to stop it.  That is the real issue to me.  Things were chippy and things were said and done in the first quarter.  But after that OBJ kept it up and even escalated while Norman did not. So no he wont be suspended but will likely be fined.  Still OBJ lost a lot more money with a one game suspension without pay which works out to around 160,000.

    • I originally hated the Miller deal but with the cap projected to rise nearly $10M next season the Canes struck some pretty good deals between Miller and Ehlers. Most of the team is locked in for the next few years. Nikishin will need an extension probably in the $6M AAV range. And Blake will need one if we don’t move him. Personally I’d move Blake, picks, and any prospect not named Nikishin/Nadeau/Artamonov for McTavish as I don’t see any any of the big time players moving teams next year. Realistically the Hurricanes should just target Gustavsson next year to fix the goal tending issue. But I’m all for moving Blake, picks, and prospects for McTavish this year. Ehlers - Aho - Jarvis Svechnikov - McTavish - Stankoven Martinook - Staal - Carrier Hall - Kotkaniemi - Robinson Jost - Jankowski Slavin - Miller Nikishin - Chatfield Gostisbehere - Walker Reilly Andersen Kochetkov I’d do Blake, Felix-Unger-Sorum, and 27 2nd for McTavish.
    • Very true on the length but stuff like this is never where we shine. We aren’t a good team at drafting.
    • Homerism aside, the more I see from Dan, the more impressed I am.  His player evaluation instincts. Last year his 2 premier FA signings, Hunt and Lewis COMPLETELY changed the line and I have a feeling his success in choosing blue chip guys will continue.  Look at the panthers’s rep for FA signings in the past. By and large, it’s been guys 1 year past their prime who had an injury and suckered our GM in to a crippling contract. We never get nice things. When was the last time this team signed 2 young blue chip studs  in the same offseason to contracts worthy of their impact? Ever?  Im telling y’all, players respect and trust Morgan.
