Cam Newton had one of the greatest individual seasons of all time in 2015. So it should be no surprise that he is Sporting News’ Offensive Player of the Year.

Don’t just take our word for it. In our annual poll of players, coaches and executives around the NFL, Newton got a whopping 67 percent of the votes. That gave him considerable distance from the four runners-up — Tom Brady, Antonio Brown, Carson Palmer and Adrian Peterson.

Given how impressive those guys were through 16 games, Newton had to be historically special. And he was.

You win fantasy football, you win the world. Good job Cam.

Fantasy football is based off stats. Stats are generated by play on the field. Cam generated A LOT of plays on the field. One of the greatest all time offensive performances no matter how you set the context.

    • I presented that scenario because this is a home game and we seemed to have improved in some capacity in that area as of recently. The problem with the possibility of sweeping the Bucs is this team has had a habit of quickly falling victim to momentum shifts. The Bucs are coming off a bitter loss the same as the Panthers but the Bucs have a much better proven track record this time of year and they have performed when the pressure is on unlike our Panthers. We have a shot against the Seahawks here in BOA but that is a matchup that could quickly get out of hand because they are a well coached team and that goes back to the momentum shifts I mentioned. I just don't see this team beating the Bucs in their stadium to close the season. Tall order to say the least.
    • I’d give it another year for Sanders and Evans, I don’t much care what you do with Tremble’s spot. Let him have another year or maybe replace him. Haven’t looked at his contract so that may be the determining factor.
    • Following the crazy up down pattern we finish 9-8 with an improbable sweep of TB, and lay an egg in the home playoff game.  I don’t know if I can sign on to sweeping TB but I suppose it’s possible, they aren’t really that good this year.    ps I can buy beating TB Sunday and losing to Seattle.  Then it just gets to can you fluke one game. Any given Sunday. So we’ll see.
