2003 vs 2015 Panthers

Pretty fun read - that 2003 team was special too but a whole different kind of special.

This year's team just feels like a buzz-saw waiting for anyone who happens to be in front of them.  I never really felt like the 2003 team was the best team in the NFL like I do this one.

The 2003 team was a bunch of scrappy underdogs who had a fairy tale season then had a losing season the next year. The 2015 team is built to dominate and will steamroll the league for years to come. 2003 would most likely get blown out by 2015.

To be fair the 2004 Panthers lost a key player to IR damn near every game. They would have been a playoff team had that not happened.

Still I'll take 2015 over 2003 too.

Love me some 2003 team their the reason I fell in love with football, but they would get rolled by this team. Cam is the main difference and I'm not trying to poo on Delhomme. Outside of that they match up respectfully, but the difference is day and night in terms of Qb. Also worth noting that 03 team didn't get a sack on Brady, do you really think this team isn't going to get to Manning??

I think it could be either a blowout or a very close 2003 victory. We got so close to giving up leads, and the 2003 team was so good at winning close games. That being said, who is going to tackle Cam?

I think the biggest concern on defense would be the receivers. Steve was just so fast, you need to double him, but that leaves Moose and Proehl open underneath. It's a predictable offense, but it worked.

    • Here in lies the rub that the supporting posters continue to ignore. He wasn’t a 2nd round pick in the 2025 class, especially with an ACL tear. It was a dumb pick for any GM who looks ahead to determine values. C and CB were much better values than an injured RB in 2024. If a RB isn’t even playing much in 2024, you have to compare him to 2025. We’re beating a dead horse but only because the defense of the pick is almost comical at this point. We’ve made a ton of poo picks and moves/non trades while Morgan was GM and the assistant GM. It happens, we don’t have to jump through hoops to act like we just had some really bad luck. The 2025 draft class is unknown so far but damn it felt way better afterwards for the first time in a long time. Embrace the potential and stop stamping guaranteed on the box of poo of the 2018-2024 drafts. We are were we aware because of them and 2025 has to hit so we can get past the 7 win max in 7 year hurdle.
    • Oh for those tired of the Mannings I have bad news, Peytons son Marshal already has college teams after him and he isn't even in HS until this fall...   I'd wager we have two Mannings in the NFL in 2030
