Anyone else going to watch the SB alone?

Nope.  We have some friends with whom we rotate the Super Bowl party annually.  It was our turn last year.  Just after the NFCCG ended Sunday night, I got an email from one of the other friends inviting us to their house for this year's party.

I anticipate a joyous evening.

Might be the first time I watch a SB by myself, since I watch every panthers game alone I don't want to jinx it. Plus if god forbid the panthers lose I'm gonna have a total meltdown, I don't want nobody around.

Blasphemy! They shall not lose! I will probably watch alone so that I can freak the fug out when they do something amazing without the distractions of others who are just there for the commercials and hot wings. Then rewind, and freak out again!

I will.  Reason?  I do not want to entertain or pretend to be interested in what some fair-weather, wagon-loading, "fan" who has no friggin idea of the hard draft research, emotional sacrifice, and professional compromise I have put into that moment--the pinnacle of fandom, an event that rivals only the births of my 2 boys (now that they are Panther fans) and my marriage to my wonderful wife.  Nobody is going to skip into my moment with brand-spanking new Panther gear from Penney's because it is the next social thingy in town and pretend to sit as my equal on a sofa and make ill-timed comments about players whose name and complete professional biography he does not know.   If you are there for the food and the commercials, you are going to my hell and I will gladly send you there if you as much as think about depriving me of one second of this climactic moment by breathing the same air I am breathing--air only intended for those who are true and blue Panther fans and have been since before October----1995.

When I dont go to games I have a process to manage my nerves and it includes me watching the game alone on my screened in porch with a case of beer and a some cigars.  Only once was that process interrupted and it was the Atlanta game.

I wont break precedent or risk throwing off the mojo.  I plan to watch this game the same way I have watched every game.

I'm really debating this. I've been hosting a party for 16 years but I'm not sure I want to this year. My three sons will be watching with me but no one else I invite is a Panthers fan and I'm not sure I want the distractions this year. Plus, my brother and I have Skyped during every game but two over the last two years, not sure he will want to if I have a house full of people. Dilemma.

    • damn I wish somebody would sign him. This has been going on for weeks.    I think if the team wanted to sign him we probably would have heard something about interest on our part.    Or any TE. It looks like they have set that room. And we have taken guys two years running, a guy like this would be blocking them. We need to see if they have it or not. And we should see if Tremble is gonna ever do anything.      In general, with the TEs
    • Dude, there aren’t rose colored glasses big enough for you to call this “not a bad draft.” BC was not a good pick. He was taken with the 6th pick in round 3 and he’s been a backup OL. Tremble also wasn’t a win. Another 3rd rounder who’s easily replaced. Only reason either of them started games is because of injuries or a lack of a better starter. Chuba’s got heart but he’s had one solid year behind a solid run blocking unit. Other than that he’s underwhelmed and like we saw with Dowdle and Foreman, it’s not hard to find cheap pickups who perform as well. Horn has been a good starter but honestly that draft had so many solid starters we could have taken. With as many picks as we had, him and Chuba is absolutely a bad draft. We needed OL and BC and Brown was a terrible effort. You clearly didn’t watch the Senior Bowl if you thought Brown had a chance in the NFL. The huddle draft folks wanted Humphrey and Smith and instead we got crap and Mahomes was the winner.
