"There is nothing my son can do on the football field — EVER! — will compare to what he has done already for this family," the father said from Red Bank this week. "This weekend could be God giving my son a high five for what he did, for everything that happened."

What a great story. If you did not know who Scott Simonson is, you should now.

This is the part that had me fighting back tears sitting her at my desk at work.

"Who is going to get my room?"

The father was confused. He asked what the boy meant.

"I'm going to die. Who is going to get my stuff?"

Simonson pulled the car to the side of the Turnpike in disbelief. He realized his son, Scott Jr., thought he was giving up his own life to save his 3-year-old sister, Shannon, that day. But it was the next realization that made him fight back tears 15 years later.

The boy didn't care.

That is pretty powerful stuff there.

"His father was amazed that, as they waited the year and a half for Shannon's body to develop to give the treatment a better chance, his son never expressed concern or fear. A school psychologist said he was more like a Navy SEAL than a grade school boy, focused on the mission."

That article is amazing.

Met his parents on the flight home from CLT back to EWR following the divisional game.  His father made it a point to come talk Panther football with me as i was in my Cam jersey and Division Champs hat.  Couldn't be nicer people, didn't hear about this story from them not that they would just bring it up.  They didn't even bring up the fact that there son was on our team until after we landed and i asked if they would be back for the championship game.  Great story..
