There is the possibility that we sign him prior to the new season starts but this Poll is assuming we use the Tag on Josh Norman.

I have recently read on here some of you think it is a good idea to tag and trade Josh Norman.

I think that is a really bad move.  Players like Josh Norman are few and far between.  After 4 years we finally have a CB that we have dreamed of having.  Why anyone would want to tag and trade is beyond me.

Thought I would run a poll to see what everyone else thought.

It depends on what we would get back in a trade.  IMHO it'd have to include currency to get a player we consider to be at the TOP of our draft board this year.  Jax has an absurd amount of cap room, as do the Raiders.

Revis was traded at approximately the same age for the #13 overall pick and a conditional 3rd/4th.  Getting the Raiders pick at 14 or trading our 1st and JNo to Jax to get to #5 overall are the only "realistic" scenarios worth considering IMHO.  And that's only IF GMan thinks Bosa or Buckner is the next Reggie White.

But considering the money it would save it has to at least be a "consideration", even if I don't necessarily want it per se.  And as far as sentiment, GMan didn't become the godfather by having a heart.  Not even in the same stratosphere as losing #89 would be.

Strictly business.  Gotta consider everything.

Tag 16&17 and let him walk, to be completely honest, he isn't as good as some people make hime out to be. Half of the elite wr's he faced this year were coming off injuries or still playing hurt,  others were open a lot throughout the game and just weren't throw to. Our front 7 makes any corner look great.  He does have great ability, but is nowhere near the talent to be asking for 10mil+ per year, especially for his age. Just my opinion tho,  some of you might disagree, but that is your opinion, I'm simply stating mine.  I'd love to see us draft a corner tbis year and next year early in the draft

He faced a who's who of quarterbacks and receivers this year and allowed the lowest QB rating in the NFL. And thats with the worst pass rush we've had in 4 years. You cannot let an elite cornerback away from your team with the way the entire league favors the pass

Give him an ultimatum. Contract offer for 4 years for about $50M with a fair amount guaranteed the first 2 years, or play on the tag for a year then go to another team. I think Josh would accept that offer and it would be nice for us to just get that done and over with. And a deal like that would be similar to tagging him two years in a row which I've seen suggested. Josh won't want to play on the tag and may take the $12.5M/year deal instead of playing on the tag and then trying to get $15M per or whatever the highest number is. It's truly best for both parties to stay with each other. Our secondary would be trash without Josh and Josh is a Carolina boy who fits with this locker room and D and Rivera's coaching has probably made him look better than he is. I understand wanting to get paid as much as possible but Josh should look at the other factors. Would he be happy living in Oakland, going 4-12 every year, but making $15M/year? Or making $12.5 per and still on the Panthers and in Carolina which he loves? I hope he'll make the right decision and not chase the money, but if he does then I don't blame him.

    • Sellers is absolutely one to keep an eye on. Could be the next Cam or could be the next Anthony Richardson. Curious to see how he has progressed come this fall.
    • I think Texas could go 0-12 and he would still go #1 based on his name and traits like you say.  But nusselman and sellers may be actually better qbs.    Man if bryce stinks it up this season its looking like a damn good year to swap out qbs.  Sellers highlights are just fuging jaw dropping
    • I mean, the kid comes from a wealthy family. It's not like he needs the money. He has a ton of potential now we get to see what he can do as a starter. Everyone penciling him in as the #1 overall pick is putting the cart way before the horse. It's 5% because of his talent and what he's showing on the field and 95% because his last name is Manning. And if he is what he's hyped to be the Texas coaching staff needs to be answering some tough questions about why the kid wasn't on the field sooner. Ewers was a good college QB but he's definitely not a "keep a future #1 overall pick waiting" type of college QB. Only getting one season out of a top NFL talent because you chose to keep him buried behind a borderline NFL talent is just coaching negligence. Not starting him as a true freshman? Yeah, I get that. But on year two if the kids is what he's hyped to be you gotta wish Ewers well elsewhere and turn the page.
