lol Denver won't be poo next season. Elway surprisingly isn't taking the QB position seriously enough. They should've went after Fitzpatrick or Glennon. Now they have a couple of the worst QBs in the league fighting for the starting spot. lulz.

They're probably focused on their QB position through the draft.

People laughing at this, but considering the Broncos just won the superbowl with only defense and now they have an atheltic QB that can actually make plays, I don't think it's all that bad of a move. Pretty much the same situation when the 49ers had that defense and Kaep was making plays with his feet

Give me a list of teams that have won back to back Super Bowls with complete crap at QB. I'll wait.

Doesn't matter, it's a good move for the Broncos. They will be right back in the playoffs next year. However, winning back to back superbowls is a different animal. They will have a chance though.

How to they have the cap money to do this?

They don't.  They are counting on Kaep taking a $7 mil pay cut.  Ballsy even to let this get out.  If it weren't Kaep I'd say no way it gets done but he wants to leave 9ers (don't blame him) and a one year prove it deal makes sense.  But this is a low ball offer of epic proportions.  It really speaks to Elway's ego and also shows why the ultimate demise of the broncos is a season (or less) away.  Kaep just gets his $11+mil contract guaranteed yesterday... GUARANTEED? and he is going to take huge paycut to play for the cash-strapped broncos?

This is a good move for the Broncos.  Kaepernick did his damage being coached under a former QB backed by a really good defense.  Being coached by a former QB in Kubiak with that D would give him a greater shot at success I think.  Elway knows what he's doing clearly.

also, per rotoworld

According to ESPN Broncos reporter Jeff Legwold, Denver will "have to make a move" with LT Ryan Clady if the team acquires Colin Kaepernick.

Even if Kaepernick takes a big pay cut to join the Broncos, something he's been unwilling to do, Denver will have to make some adjustments to get under the $155.27 million salary cap for 2016. Cutting Clady makes the most sense, thought that would leave the Broncos with $1.2 million in dead money. Punter Britton Colquitt ($4 million cap hit in 2016) could be another cap casualty while Chris Harris, Aqib Talib and Demaryius Thomas could also be asked to restructure their contracts. Denver has just $1.62 million in cap space right now, easily the lowest number in the league.

    • Just another 1st round QB that never paid off for the team that drafted them or traded for them. It's been like this since the SB began. 36 QBs have now won the SB & only 13 of them have been 1st rounders winning with their original team. Namath 1968, Griese 1972, Bradshaw 1974, McMahon 1985, Simms 1986, Aikman 1992, Elway 1997, Roethlisberger 2005, P.Manning 2006, E.Manning 2007, Rodgers 2010, Flacco 2012, & Mahomes 2019. Only 3 have taken longer than 5 seasons as the starter to win a SB.  4  6  5  4  6  4  15  2  9  4  3  5  2 [the years it takes for these 1st round QBs] 5  1  4  1  3  1  1  2  3  4  [10 of the 36 have won a chip with their 1st team that haven't been drafted in the 1st round. These are the years it took them as a starter] What stands out? Only 2 of these QBs have lost their first championship appearance. Elway took 4 years as a 1st rounder & Hurts took 2 years as a 2nd rounder. Of the 10 non-1st round QBs, 2 are 2nd rounders, 3 are 3rd rounders, 5 are 6th rounders or later. Please stop wasting time on drafting 1st round QBs with such a high failure rate. The remaining 13 QBs are traded or free agent signings. Stafford, Favre, Young, Williams and Dawson are the 5 trades. Peyton Manning & Tom Brady also won for teams as free agents on a short stay as well as being drafted. The lesson here is don't waste your franchise on farming up 1st rounders for the league, and steer clear of trading for a franchise QB. Stick to finding that championship QB by drafting them outside of the 1st round or through free agency.
    • I lost most of the respect I had for Fox in 2010. He should have resigned if he hated the job that much. Instead he stuck for his paycheck and let stuff go to hell.    I burned out on Ron too but my deal breaker issue with him was away from football and after he was gone from the Panthers. He may have been out of his depth but never quit on us.
    • From where they were one year ago to now, pretty incredible. I mean, say what you want about Vrabel he is no Jerrod Mayo.
