If Treadwell is available at 30, does Gettleman take him?

So, all the talk I've seen here and elswhere seems to revolve around these guys.

  • Derrick Henry
  • Hunter Henry
  • Karl Joseph
  • Emmanuel Ogbah
  • Kevin Dodd
  • Vernon Butler

Might've missed some but you get the point. Two offensive guys then a ton of defensive guys.

Treadwell used to be considered the top WR in the draft, and I feel like "Love to have him but he won't fall" seemed to be a common sentiment around here a while ago. Since then, his stock seems to have been falling and it seems like there's a legitimate shot (albeit still unlikely) that he'll be there at our pick.

Big, physically possession receiver that's not too fast.  Do you guys think Gettleman would view Treadwell as BPA and go for him?

I'm not sure because on one hand, he very well could be BPA at 30. On the other hand, we drafted Funch last year and have KB coming back - it'd be adding another big, tall and not necessarily fast WR to a receiving core that already has that, and a lot of it. Really not sure what Getts would do, just want your guys' opinions.

I think he would, but he's my least favorite of the 4 top WRs for the Panthers. We have enough big body WRs with questionable speed. I probably wouldn't take a WR at 30 unless Coleman was there. Doctson would be okay and I wouldn't be upset with Fuller.

Doubt it.

Coleman though....

I'd be totally fine with Coleman.

Igo (I've been on this board so long I just typed out Zod first), there's 24 hours till the draft. It's so close but yet so far.

CRUMBS MAN, WE NEED MORE INFO CRUMBS.

I just can't get on board with any of the big body guys this year.  Like you said, I feel like we're good there, but none of them seem too impressive for first round guys.  I'd be okay with Coleman in the first, but that's about it.

What's with all the Coleman hype lately? Hadn't really seen him mentioned with us until Voth tweeted yesterday or the day before. Now it seems everyone thinks he's the guy we want most. Did I miss something?

The hype has always been there, but the possibility of him dropping seems to be increasing.....

From my article last week...

"Second, I believe any wide receiver prospects the Panthers would consider in the first will also be off the board. But again, if a guy like Baylor's Corey Coleman somehow drops to 30.... he is the BPA and would not be passed up.  "

    • At this point, I think Chubba is the odd man out. I hate that, but I think Dowdle gives us more production and big play ability.  But there is still a lot of football to play.  I think it depends on how much Dowdle will want too.
    • I’ve been anti-trade when it comes to Melo, but the way this season has started, it may be time.  I love his game and he’s a cool dude, but I’m starting to think, if he’s your best player, you’re never going to win anything of significance.  Too many brain farts, too many injuries, and ultimately for as fun and entertaining as he is to watch - his game is indeed a thing of beauty - it just doesn’t translate to wins.  And that’s IF he even plays.  I think it’s time to cash out and maximize the return.  I love Melo, but I think it’s pretty clear what the ceiling is for a team where he is the best player.
    • Every NFL team, college program, hell even HS has numerous "what ifs" that got derailed by injury. It's a brutal sport and half the battle is just getting lucky enough to stay healthy. Doesn't matter how durable you are and how well you take care of your body everyone is one weird hit or awkward twist away from a career derailing injury.
