KK proved he was the best DT last year, not to mention he plays a position that's important and valued on this team. This isnt a norman case. Hardball only gets you so far.

One of the best, he's with Donald and Adkins for his type of play

This is the benefit of negotiating now. The idea of "less" is pretty vague and speculative when there is nothing to compare it to. If he is happy here then whatever he accepts would be less than what he would command on the open market. Newton would have made a good deal more as a free agent.

Short is an overrated locker room cancer that had always been a me first type of player. He just looked good because of our elite pass coverage. Just a product of the system. Good riddance, stopping the run and sacking the qb are overrated. I'm glad he signed with (insert team name); he wasn't worth a tenth of that! We will be better with our new untested rookie.

...sorry, Just working on some material for if he hits free agency.

It's kind of interesting to see the divide in pay between the Suh ($19.1M average annually), Dareus ($15.85M), and McCoy ($13.6M) level players and...really everyone else.

Then there's the Atkins-Damon Harrison-Tyrone Crawford tier that makes around $9-10M. And then ANOTHER big drop down to Linval Joseph-Dan Williams-Ngata, all who make around $6M on average.

Fun fact: According to spotrac, right now the 7th-highest 2016 cap hit among DTs belongs to Paul Soliai. More specifically, it's for what the Falcons are paying him, not Carolina.

Sweet.  We keep doing that.  Last year the Bears payed HOW MUCH for Allen (some mega number) while we paid him peanuts...!  Love it.
