Butler already on his way to being the complete package

With how big he is and how much he fights the blockers on tape, his ceiling  reminds me of Aaron Donald. He's got some of those nasty pass rusher qualities. And hell, let's be honest KK is right in the same company as being equally as good of a pass rusher as suh, and Donald. This is exciting to me, having two stud beasts that are on third down. Short and Butler, that just makes me excited  as hell.

He's really nothing like Aaron Donald, like at all. If you want a high level comparison for him then it's Muhammad Wilkerson. Donald is small and shifty with an insane first step. Butler is big and strong and uses power more than quickness.

Are you looking for unbiased Panther news on something called the CAROLINA HUDDLE?

Sorry my brain still functions when I come here. But I'm not perfect and I do forget it's not the same for everyone.

Look no further than the OT game against the Colts last year to see why the Panthers need all the defensive line depth they can get.  I'm still surprised they didn't add another DE to the mix. Wouldn't shock me if Gettleman grabs someone off a practice squad who turns into a starter...happens every year with him it seems.

Ryan Delaire, Arthur Miley and Rahim Moore---If anyone turns into a starter, it will be one of them.  Of course, being a starter on the D-line for the Panthers doesn't necessarily mean as much as it does on some squads, as we believe in a healthy rotation.  In any event, we are in good shape with Johnson and Ealy presumably being the starters. With Addison and the rest as depth, I was not surprised that Butler was the first pick and that another DT was the highest graded player when our next pick came along.

You see this through just about every game and so many times he is unable to finish a single drive because he gets tired. Here is the New Orleans Bowl. I will post a few videos. There are too many plays he gets beat, quits, or abused to post them all.

15:15 mark

21:55

This entire drive Butler was dominated. Appears he was pulled out of the drive at one point to be spoken to by the coaches before they put him back in. Probably for lack of effort. Watch the entire drive, but here are 2 plays from that drive.

54:00

59:00 > They target Butler at the goal line and run right at him for an easy TD.

Watch the entire game and you will see. This is a bowl game too. This is the typical play you see from Butler in every game over the 2015 season.

Seems that most of the scouting process for the Panthers occurred at the Senior Bowl. Explains a lot with the Panthers's 2016 draft class.

Ha.  Just a tongue-in-cheek comment to mock ourselves--it is hard to separate the fluff from fact. :)

I do agree with you that he get push out of the run game but that's more about leverage then strength. Also KK had the same problems in college and we fixed that so I'm not concerned. Also he was hard to move at the senior bowl and give up no ground in the drills or the game.

All teams watch the Senior Bowl closely because it's top talent against top talent, numbnuts.

You on the other hand are stupid enough to believe that you can pick out four plays in a single game and scout an entire player. And nobody buys that you watched the entire season or even the entire game. People know you make s--t up.

Take, for example, your starting at the 15:15 mark, when the play right before that Butler pushes through two guys and gets way in the backfield rushing the quarterback.  Likewise, just a few minutes later Butler makes another play. And if he's sitting, it's most likely because of rotation (a football term which means you don't know anything about it). And there are various other plays throughout the game where if you actually do watch, you'll see him looking great.

Here's the reality, Sparky. You're not a professional Scout. Frankly you're not even a halfway intelligent football fan. Nobody is taking your opinion over that of people who are professionals and who have helped build a Super Bowl team.

You can keep making a fool of yourself while everybody points and laughs at you if you want to, but I personally think it's kind of pathetic.

1:36:15 > A small back runs right at Butler making him look bad again.

Feel free to post his good plays. I am wondering what you consider is good. He does like to take credit for other players tackles.

Funny you think the play before and after 15:15 were good for Butler. The play before he gets blocked by a RB 1/3 his size and stops his rush. The play after he shows no urgency and jogs half speed to the sideline.

His effort at the goal line is garbage. He could have stopped a TD if he had hustle. Instead, he just jogs and watches his teammates try to make the tackle and then throws his hands up complaining about his teammates efforts to stop the TD.

Which game do you believe was his best? Please, do not say the Senior Bowl.

    • Yeah, I could jump right into the unbelievable Bryce debate now that some people are trying to flip the script because Bryce Young has, at most, a handful of decent games as a pro, but that's going to work itself out. Suffice it to say that I've seen better QBs (with an s) in a Panthers uniform, and I've certainly seen better QBs be drafted while we're playing around with Bryce, one of them who beat the crap out of us already this season... Let's forget about Bryce (and his markedly underwhelming play since he's been here); I think that most sane fans will agree that drafting him was an error, but it happens. Sure, it doesn't happen to the tune of King's ransom---including your main receiver---but it happens. You bet, you lose. Speaking of receivers...and betting and losing... Oh, man, we drafted Xavier Legette. Yes, just like with Bryce, I've entered "the dark side." Some Huddlers were telling us from the beginning, and they were right. But, I'm not apologizing for waiting to see what a guy's got before making my decision on him. X was a one-year wonder at South Carolina who parlayed some really nice production that season, a great personality and thick country accent, into becoming a first round pick (but only in Carolina). For Dan Morgan and company, He was a big swing that has turned into a big whiff (and I can still feel the ill breeze from that one). Sh¡t happens, right? Well, not so fast. Ladd McConkey was the decidedly more polished receiver who was literally ready to hit the ground running as soon as stepping onto the field as a pro. Ladd was never the biggest guy (though not the smallest), but he was the guy that could run routes, always seemed to get open---no question---and had the same speed as X, but with legit quickness and nuanced shake and bake. But Dan chose the project. He chose the guy where the game speed looks more like a tractor trailer than a 5.0 mustang. Look, I've supported X (just like Bryce) many many a day, but no more. Now I'm not saying that I won't root for the guy. Just like with Bryce, he seems like a great kid. But as far as giving excuses for the kid, and, perhaps more importantly, waiting for some miraculous breakout, I'm done with that. I've seen enough. You don't draft a project for a project. And yes, Bryce had proven to be a project after his first season. In my mind, drafting a supposedly number one receiver that needs lots of development for a starting quarterback that needs immediate help to try and further his development is not going to lead to good things. Pick the surest guy. Or at least pick the one who appears to be the surest guy, because picking can be tricky... especially when you're too busy tricking yourself.
    • Winning ain't gonna make my eyes lie to me. Context matters, and it will always matter in the game of football.
    • That TD pass to Legette against Miami. Elite. The play where Bryce rolls right to buy time until Tet can reverse field.  Bryce pumps as multiple defenders close in.  He barely gets it away before he takes a big time hit.  Beautiful off platform throw and great catch by Tet.   The second TD to Tet against Dallas where Bryce dips and turns his shoulder in to evade the pass rusher.  Resets and finds Tet in the end zone. Dude embodies the Keep Pounding mantra.
