Cat proofing cabinets

lightsout

Recommended Posts

So my cats are outrageous when I'm not home. They stay out of stuff as long as I'm there. On nights I work or while I'm asleep, they get into the kitchen drawers and then drop to the cabinet below. Leaving pots, pans, and the junk drawer contents all over the kitchen. This only became an issue about a month or so ago.

What would be the cheapest and simplest way to cat proof my apartment? It's an apartment, so I don't want to modify the stuff too much and damage it and risk losing my deposit, but something has to be done.

Bored cats not getting enough interaction and play time.

That's my guess. My girlfriend tends to ignore them and doesn't play with them. Just pets them and holds them. When I'm home, I'll throw their toys around, grab the laser pointer while I'm watching TV, something to get them moving and worn out so they nap from midnight- 6 AM.

She takes up all the toys before she goes to bed. I keep telling her that's part of the problem, that they don't have anything to keep their attention, but she doesn't listen.

It will only get worse...  My cats used to be well played with until they decided to get old on us.  Now all they want is to sit in your lap, on your chest, in between us on the couch/bed/whatever.  They demand all the doors be open so we can hear them cry and scream all hours of the night.  Oh, and the puking.  Tried several foods for older cats, all the same puke.  I hate having old cats!

For younger cats, keep them interested as much as possible.  Try the treat toys where they have to hit them and treats come out.  That's a good thing a couple times a week.  Or anything they can interact with.  That solved a lot of problems until our cats decided they hated all toys and only wanted to drive us crazy and destroy our property.

Cats are crazy.   Way more destructive than my German Shepherd.   Even with a big cat house, stupid toys, etc.  The male I have gets on the counters literally 10 seconds after we leave the kitchen.  He's been sprayed with water, shoo'd, put in a room in timeout, etc, and nothing happens.  Though, I think he is seriously and no joke, retarded.  My female is older and more relaxed but can scratch things.  The male also just meows (like a lonely meow really loud) for no reason, even if someone is near him, etc.

    • I would write “give remmers tight end help” on a yellow sticky note and stuck it in shulas playbook the night before superbowl 50.
    • And don’t worry about Bryce he will be great… Peyton Manning had a horrible rookie year too 😂
    • Nothing wrong with it at all until you start telling others they are bad fans or not fans. But you are the good fan because you never say negative stuff about the team.    I did many years of that type of uninformed fanning because there really was no info and coverage like there is with the internet.    I mean, I used to go to the store and get Street and Smith’s annual football issue. That was about the extent of what you could get if you didn’t live in a big city with sportswriters covering and reporting.  There was no video to look at or replay the games and if you didn’t live in the market you could only rarely see your football team play.    TI have fanned since being a kid in the early 1960s, and as late as 1995 - ‘97 I lived in Atlanta and good luck getting more than 3 or 4 games a year on TV. No radio either. No print coverage outside of an AP recap and box unless they played Atlanta.  People today that have always had the network connection don’t know.    I wasn’t very educated about the Panthers until I finally got internet.
