Broncos camp has small turnout

Looking forward to the days when training camp on the heals of a Superb Owl win is no big deal.

"It could have been the Peyton Manning factor.

Or maybe the Denver Broncos are still suffering from a Super Bowl hangover and have yet to get excited about the upcoming season.

Or perhaps it’s this: Bronco fans are taking a wait-and-see attitude about this year’s team.

It can’t be the price.

Whatever the cause, the Broncos drew a surprisingly small crowd of 3,407 to the UCHealth Training Center for the team’s first day of training camp Thursday. There were 4,025 fans who showed up on Day 1 of camp last  year for a team coming off a disappointing, playoff-opening loss to Indianapolis."

Meanwhile, both Voth & Igo are talking about the stands at Gibbs stadium filling up remarkably quickly and predicting they'll run out of seats for everyone....

So what's that?  15K?

I was just about to ask that. What's a good turnout for day 1? Wikipedia says Gibbs Stadium holds 13k.

Not denying that Denver are the Super Bowl champs or trashing their team.  I'd just think that a SB win would INCREASE fan excitement, not decrease it.

Can you imagine opening day at training camp numbers decreasing if we'd won the Super Bowl?  It seems very odd.  Must be the lack of a star QB, I'm guessing.

Neither does Bojangles, but you can bet your a$$ I'll be pulling through the drive-through for some steak egg and cheese here in about 30-45 minutes.

Last year, we had 35,000+ for the opening practice/party. I don't have figures for today yet. Still pouring in!

CORRECTION: it was 35k for opening weekend. About 17700 opening night. We definitely have exceeded that tonight.

    • D Carr must have really disliked the saints to wait and do this announcement after the draft has passed if he made this call a few weeks before the draft sure they would have approached it and the offseason differently.  oh well will be interesting to see how their qbs perform.  would love to see them roll with Thill and just make the whole offense towards his skillset.  Although sadly would be only playing in about half the games with how often he gets injured.
    • I have to say it's quite fascinating seeing you pivot from months and months of wailing and agonizing about threads derailing into Bryce Young slingfests only for you to turn around and do the same thing. And just for the record. Nobody in life ever attained wisdom and clarity from mistakes by having people blindly fawn over them and tell them they are above reproach and incapable of making mistakes. Our front office is just as human as we are. And based on the fact that front offices across the league outside of a handful of teams change on a fairly regular basis it's safe to say they are certainly no more infallible than the average Joe even though they possess significantly more knowledge usually. If you want a utopia where all you do is shine shoes for anyone associated with the Panthers you go right on ahead and create yourself a new community sir. More power to you.
    • I trust Morgan when it comes to LBs so I think Wallace will do well.
