It's almost as if the more they get out of his way, the better cam does.

Yea...pretty amazing considering the knock on him as he came out of college.  Most did not think he had the IQ for this. LMAO  Rivera has grown as a head coach but his 1st big decision was gutsy and smart.

Good read.  I am glad to see that [it seems] the Panthers will be going more no huddle...Cam really gets into a rhythm with the no huddle and has gotten pretty darn good at reading defenses and selecting the right play.  This offense might just be something really special.

Thanks for the link. It really is kinda scary to think that Cam can actually get better. It really is a great time to live in Pantherland.

Kobe Bryant/MJ of the NFL. Who would've ever thought the team we root for would have not one but two once in a generation type players. A rare occurrence

Throw in the other 8 Pro Bowlerz, and all the kids that seem to be on their way. That is a whole lot of talent on this here team. Good time my friend, good times.

there is still one area where Rivera still thinks Newton could do a better job. That’s not being afraid to call out teammates publically or privately if necessary.

“You very rarely hear him point a finger,” Rivera said. “It’s always, ‘I could have made a better read. I could have thrown a better pass.’ His teammates really do appreciate it. He never put anybody out there to dry. He’s always kind of kept it on his shoulders.

love this quote. for all of the ESPN, PFT, and local reporter hottakes about Cam being selfish, his own coach finds his greatest weakness is selflessness.

My biggest thing I want to see improved this year is that killer instinct. Far too many times last season we had huge leads at half and let teams back in it. I hope we've learned how to step on opponents throats.

It's not about killer instinct it's about run blocking.

Cam is really coming into his own. He has really mastered Shula's offense and made it his own. All of the studying and hard work is finally paying off.  To think he has gone from people saying it would take 2 years for him to even be a starter in the NFL to a quarterback who can recognize and manipulate defenses with the great ones is really a testament to a great coaching staff and incredibly hard working quarterback. The synergy between them is the best in our franchise history. Now with the talent to match we should be a top 5 offense again this year which would be the only time that we have had a top 5 offense two years in a row.

Unless they turn the clock off at the end zone behind the quarterback (entirely possible), the defense can see it. I've no idea though if they only run the clock facing the QB.

No, I mean they literally can't see it, considering they have their heads down and a mass of bodies staring them in the face.

They, or someone on the defense, could if they wanted to if the clock is still on. Not an absolute as your initial post made it sound but I agree that I'm arguing semantics. DL should be watching the ball and not the play clock.
