My memory is razor sharp, if you go back on this board a few years you will find a discussion in which I started that Gettleman would not have drafted Cam. If you find that thread you'd might be surprised at the amount of people who agreed with me.

Good luck to your boys today, bruh.

I agree with that.  Hurney was a coaches GM.  Ron wanted Cam.

Dave isn't a different type GM. He views himself as the talent guy and he wouldn't of gone new age wildcard QB.  Given our team at the time we would gone DT

Agreed, as much as i like Gettleman he who wouldn't have drafted Cam. There would have been plenty of players he would have had rated above him. Your first draft and you are trying to make a good impression, doubt Rivera would have convinced him on Cam.

"Gettleman did not have any input on the decision to retain Rivera. In fact, the two men never met until last week."

Richardson made up his mind about Rivera before he started interviewing GMs.

Hope this helps.

Actually it doesn't, because your post named a bunch of assistants who you said would all be gone if Gettleman had his way. As was pointed out to you, coaches hire and fire their assistants, not GM's.

Yes, Gettleman knew that Rivera was going to be the coach, and he took the job anyway. That kind of flies in the face of the notion that he wanted to come in here and fire Rivera's staff (which was a pretty silly notion to begin with).

As mentioned, there are numerous quotes from Gettleman where he said he didn't want to be the kind of guy that just threw everybody out (this would include Rivera) and put his own people in.

You don't seem to be aware of those statements, but they're on record if you care to look for them.

How the hell could anyone say whether Gettleman would have drafted Newton or not.

lol @ AceBoogie. Cam is good enough for you to use to troll the general manager of your team for no reason other than boredum, and watch him do flips in the air over defensive lines, but if he doesn't agree with you on everything he is no more than a coward.

What little credibility you actually had here is done for. Just log out dude.

My alternative timeline machine is broke today, his must be functioning.  :)

Saying that Gettleman would or would not have drafted Cam is a WAG (Wild Ass Guess) and the reality is we do not know what Gettleman would or would not have done.  Fwiw, Gettleman likes bigger players, and Cam is one of the biggest qb's to play the game.  So there is at least a chance he would have picked Cam.

If he would not have picked Cam, then we should thank our lucky stars.  We got Cam, and then it seems we got a GM who knows how to put a good team around that qb.  Best of both worlds imo.

HC and assistant coaches are a package deal. JR fires Rivera, his staff goes with him, not much leverage to stay after 2 losing seasons. Then JR hires Gettleman, who then hires a new HC who brings in his own staff. Prerty clear logic. I backed up my statement with a source about JR hiring gettleman. Don't know why i would  need to site anything gettleman said like it mattered that much over the OWNER when you clearly said you would do it. I moving on.

Most people here know I view Gettleman as a mediocre GM who has benefited greatly from having guys like Cam and Luke already on the roster. And no, that doesn't mean I want Hurney back. The biggest difference in the rise of this team in my opinion is:

40% the evolution of Ron as a coach

25% the evolution of Cam as a qb

25% the rise of Luke

10% Dave

i also believe Norman would still be on this team if he were drafted by Dave

Really? most of the people I see on this board take every opportunity to give him credit for everything. lol

I am shocked but we have Bene and McClain who can do the same Sanchez can with more experience. Maybe he will make the practice squad and take a year to learn.

Also there have and will be a lot of CBs cut that we could sign to our roster. I saw yesterday Pier Desir was cut and people think he fits our mold as a CB. There will be more experienced and talent CBs than Sanchez that will be available should we go that route.

Again, were you aware of Gettleman's statements that he didn't want to come in and clean house? Yes or no?

And if he did want to like you seem to think, why would he accept the job knowing that the head coach was already in place?

Spin it all you want. Your statements were completely off base.
