Will Panthers lose draft picks?

Reading the storyline from last nights game on all major sites, it is obvious that the NFL has to shake things up now. The entire USA watched Cam get decapitated on live tv.

General concensus is that since the coaches did not protect the player by removing him from the game, fines and/or losing draft picks may be next.....what do you think?

Is this a real thought you had? No.

One or two Broncos players will get suspended for a game, we'll all move on to San Francisco, and the NFL will keep bathing in money.

LOL no they might get fined.

The NFL released a statement Friday morning saying there was communication between medical personnel on the Carolina sideline, including the unaffiliated neurotrauma consultant, and the two independent certified athletic trainer spotters in the booth.

The release also stated that during stoppage in action the play was reviewed and medical officials determined ''there were no indications of a concussion that would require further evaluation and the removal of the player from the game.''

So, we lose draft picks? Come on now? The NFL would be such a farce to attempt that.

The real question should be what happens to the NFL itself, to the officials, for not enforcing the blatant hits to the head that Cam endured on so many occasions? Gene Salvatore and crew should, at a minimum, be suspended for not making blatant calls that all of America - including NBC, ESPN and the NFL Channel - all saw.

The Denver Donkeys also need to lose a player or two to join Gene and his crew....

Since everyone else would rather just bash the OP and state conjecture, here is the actual outline of the new proposed policy:

Quote

For first violations, teams could face:

  • A fine of up to $150,000.
  • Club employees or medical team personnel could be required to attend remedial education classes.

After a first violation, though, the severity of the consequences escalates rapidly.

  • Second and subsequent violations result in a minimum $100,000 fine for the club.
  • If the NFL and NFLPA representatives determine that there were "aggravating circumstances" involved in the violation, an additional fine of $50,000 can be assessed.

If it is determined by Goodell that the protocol was violated to maintain competitive advantage, it could result in more severe sanctions.

  • Teams could face the loss of draft picks.
  • The league may assess additional fines exceeding the amounts set forth above.

    • Why would we not be contenders? As long as Bryce plays like he did when he came back, we absolutely can be contenders...that is...   if the defense plays better... which is why adding someone like Ramsey when we have a QB on a rookie deal and can afford it makes sense IMO. No one thought of the Commanders being contenders last year or the Texans the year before and so on and so forth. Top-end QB play, especially for a guy on a rookie deal, changes everything in terms of timelines. Regardless of what this board thinks, I hope the front office is willing to he aggressive in thks window we currently have with a rookie QB deal
    • Would absolutely love to have him. I dont think he would require more than a 5th rounder. The biggest thing with his contract is the amount of guaranteed money. As long as they can work out and scenario where the Panthers aren't on the hook for a lot of that, I think it's a no-brainer. The Panthers can come up with $20M at the drop of a hat with restructuring Moton's contract, so there definitely isn't an issue from a money perspective. Jaycee paired with Ramsey along with Mike Jack would give us one of the best CB groups in the league. The one caveat I see is that safety still remains our biggest current weakness. We need a starting caliber S more than CB, simply put. But adding someone like Ramsey would be amazing as long as the compensation made sense. Ramsey could also play for FS snaps also. I also dont understand this nonsense about being seasons away. We have a QB on a rookie deal who was playing at an elite level to end last season. Within reason, now is absolutely the time to make moves like trading for Ramsey.
    • He'd be a huge upgrade for this year, but we're still not going to be contenders with him and I'd rather keep the cap space to roll into next season to spend on a younger player who can be an impact starter for us for the next 3-5 years while we're hoping to contend.
