Thoughts on Tolbert?

Have to admit, saddens me to see a safety stop him dead in his tracks and see him look confused after.

Thoughts on his role?

No poo, I looked at my wife when that happened and said, "I think that little guy just concussed Tolbert."  Couldn't believe he stoned him like that.

The whole run play calling was terrible, we should have used J-Stew, CAP & Fozzy early on to stretch the defense out and then pound it with Tolbert. We need to call more zone runs, Power of Tackle  and ISO. Specifically between OTs & OGs instead of OG- C -OG everytime while defense stacks the box.

He wasn't the greatest blocker in his prime, but what made him great was his incredible foot work, elusiveness, and of course, combined that with his power and it was a like watching a bull in a china shop with ballet slippers on.  Sadly, it appears that quick burst and elusiveness are gone, and his power has taken a hit with the lack of burst...  and of course, he still isn't a great blocker, so now he's JAG.  And that sucks.

I could NOT believe he dropped like he did when it was just him running towards that much smaller DB in the hole.  I was actually ecstatic when I saw it developing because I just KNEW he was going to truck him and get a nice gain...  and then he just stopped, IMMEDIATELY, and even fell backwards.

I love him, but i think that roster spot could be better served elsewhere at this point.

    • I was more referring to the actual following each team has. The above teams except for maybe NO have MASSIVE followings. You can go to any sports bar anywhere in the country on a Sunday and there will be all of the above teams’ jerseys represented.  Yes, the Panthers occupy a large geographical area, but the number of people that actually care about the franchise or can name more than 5 prior players is still very small. South Carolina is largely Clemson/SEC country and it’s not even close. There is a Panthers contingency, but it has to compete. Like it or not, Panthers are still not all that relevant in the NFL. We’re a 30 year old team based in a transplant state that loses more often than not, has never had back to back winning seasons, no SB victories and is stuck squarely in college football country. It’s tough to grow our brand until more consistent winning goes our way. Most fans of sports teams are Luke warm bandwagoners. No one jumps on a broken down bandwagon. It’s not hopeless but until we start seeing consistent success it won’t change.
    • I kind of want Edgecomb to make it to 4. Bailey seems like a bit of an ego case IMO. Regardless we will draft a future MVP and trade him away. It’s tradition.
    • Fingers crossed for Ace Bailey. Him not doing any workouts could be a huge blessing in disguise for us if he falls out of the top 3. Hope the team doesn’t mess it up.
