Was changing both tackle position a big mistake?

Last week I predicted Donald Hawkins would start because the Panthers would not want to downgrade both tackle positions by putting Remmers at left and Williams at right. I was wrong, and it turned out terrible.

Should the Panthers consider keeping Remmers on the right and starting Hawkins on the left? Could it be worse?

When you put that out there before the game, I benched Cam in fantasy. That's how much of a mistake I thought it was. To no surprise, I started Stafford and that proved an even bigger mistake but that's beside the point.

At least with Hawkins, we could've had a better idea which side needed more help. Instead, we gave the Falcons more options on where to attack.

Anderson didn't look half as troubled as Cam did, is the line bad yep but I think Cam would get sacked regularly with Joe Staley protecting him. Whether that's down to long developing routes, guys incapable of getting a good release and being open or him holding the ball for what feels like an eternity! It's always been his issue but this year he seems to think he can take 5 seconds every throw.
The tackles are a mess but they are more than serviceable that was proven last year and at times this year.

Honestly at this point I don't think it would matter who we put where. Teams have figured out our max protect plan and just green dog blitz us anytime we keep extra guys in. Combine that with the fact our wrs are unable to get open so Cam has no outlets to throw too and we are screwed. Unless we have a couple hall of fame caliber tackles hidden somewhere we are in for a long ass season. Hell I'd take not turnstile level tackles at this point. Damn I miss Jordan Gross.

    • Dave in a presser gassed up Anthony Tyus III and dying to see him on the field.  I mean 3 is all that needed right, and Dan loves etienne. He's one year filling in his body. If brooks is back, toss in chubba, thats 3.
    • After seeing hits in the last two UDFA pools, I do not in this group sorta of a let down after I gassed myself up.  Not like I know of their games, but just expected more. The duke DT only has to beat out hunte (2025 UDFA) or Ray (DL coach's kid) or even Cam Jackson mid 2025 5th.  I thought they would bring in more edges, IOL, TEs, etc...
    • My 2 favorite picks, since you didn't ask? 3. Brazzell II.  A 1000 yard WR with 4.37 speed and checks all the boxes for a Z Wide Receiver.  IN THE THIRD ROUND!!! 5.  Sam Hecht.  I think he will take over as the starter at some point this season and never look back.  IN THE FIFTH ROUND. Runner Up:  2. Hunter:  We were targeting a DT early in this draft because we did very little to replace Robinson in free agency.  Hunter was our guy and he will start. In addition to that, you got a starting tackle that should man one side of the new OL we will build for Bryce's second contract. A starting WR, offensive lineman, defensive lineman and possible Offensive tackle (at some point during this year from this draft will start.  UNREAL. In addition, I don't doubt that Wheatley (5th round) takes the FS job by next year and Lee III is Jackson's replacement in 2027.   Finally, even Kuwatch should be a special teams demon and LB depth.   Last year's draft was so good it was ugly.  This one will turn out to be uglier.  No offense Basbear--this ain't about you.
