At the moment we are playing with below average DEs, below average OTs, and below average running backs, and below average secondary. If thats not a talent problem I dont know what is

Same roster that took us to the SB50 minus jno. And being without jno is not cause this complete breakdown.

You need to compare the roster playing the last few weeks with the roster from last season. Theres a bit more difference than just Norman.

In the secondary alone we only have one starter from last season.

I heard them somewhere before. Like every year for the past 3 years. Can't put my finger on it...

Igo.  I keep winning all kinds of stuff on here.  Like almost every time I click on a page!  I might be the luckiest person alive!  Can I JUST REDEEM ALL MY STUFF THROUGH YOU?  OH NO ITS STUCK AGAIN

Allen - retired.

Tillman - retired.

Harper - not playing well in New Orleans.  Missed leadership here, maybe.

Who else?

The question becomes who do you replace him with. I'm assuming Proehl.

But reality is I don't see Rivera firing Shula.

I agree with what you're saying about firing Shula, and that's one reason I wonder if Rivera should still have a job. His favoritism toward underperforming vets and marginal coaches is sad but understandable given the fact that he's also a marginal coach in many aspects.

His loyalty will cost him his job.

He's had his issues for sure but I think we owe it to him to give him a chance to work his way out of this hole.  Who's the last coach to bring us back to back division titles?  Let alone 3.

The division has been struggling for the last few years in case you didnt notice.

Why fire Shula? He called a fine game. If DA doesn't float it into double coverage or if he secures the ball, we have virtually a 100% chance of winning. The two three runs up the gut drives did totally suck ass though (coincidentally our first and last drives). I don't know how that last 3rd down wasn't a play action.

This.

If folks aren't blaming DA then I'm not sure what game they were watching.

Also, that Klein late night was egregious.

    • Why would we not be contenders? As long as Bryce plays like he did when he came back, we absolutely can be contenders...that is...   if the defense plays better... which is why adding someone like Ramsey when we have a QB on a rookie deal and can afford it makes sense IMO. No one thought of the Commanders being contenders last year or the Texans the year before and so on and so forth. Top-end QB play, especially for a guy on a rookie deal, changes everything in terms of timelines. Regardless of what this board thinks, I hope the front office is willing to he aggressive in thks window we currently have with a rookie QB deal
    • Would absolutely love to have him. I dont think he would require more than a 5th rounder. The biggest thing with his contract is the amount of guaranteed money. As long as they can work out and scenario where the Panthers aren't on the hook for a lot of that, I think it's a no-brainer. The Panthers can come up with $20M at the drop of a hat with restructuring Moton's contract, so there definitely isn't an issue from a money perspective. Jaycee paired with Ramsey along with Mike Jack would give us one of the best CB groups in the league. The one caveat I see is that safety still remains our biggest current weakness. We need a starting caliber S more than CB, simply put. But adding someone like Ramsey would be amazing as long as the compensation made sense. Ramsey could also play for FS snaps also. I also dont understand this nonsense about being seasons away. We have a QB on a rookie deal who was playing at an elite level to end last season. Within reason, now is absolutely the time to make moves like trading for Ramsey.
    • He'd be a huge upgrade for this year, but we're still not going to be contenders with him and I'd rather keep the cap space to roll into next season to spend on a younger player who can be an impact starter for us for the next 3-5 years while we're hoping to contend.
