Nope, an arm tackle isn't a forcible hit. If he had dove with his shoulders or head (with the weight of his body driving the hit) it could have possibly been illegal.

The rule literally says "forcible contact with the...forearm" though so I would tend to think it could

provided he does not make forcible contact with the helmet, shoulder, chest, or forearm.

That would be driving with the forearm out in front of him at like a 90ish degree angle....with the weight of his body behind it.  He didn't hit him with his forearm, he wrapped with the inside of his arms.  An arm tackle is not a forcible hit.

Well I was sitting right there in that corner where he caught the TD and I can tell you the whole defense appeared to be not set and not ready for that play to begin. You could tell Luke was upset before Palmer even released the ball.

Luke may have been upset.  Doesn't impact what the S and CB were up to.

Coleman and Worley were executing a basic switch and on TV you can watch Colemen give Worley the check.   That is a basic check teams do when given that look.

Exact same play, exact same issue, executed a nearly the same spot....that Josh Norman got embarrassed on years ago.

now granted, that little swtich likely won't get him again.  Never recall Norman blowing the switch ever again.

That's why it still baffles me that we didn't try to get any veteran presence or known CB to go into the season and let the rooks gradually learn. I guess you could say throwing them in the fire has sped up their progression, but I still wanted to compete for a championship THIS year. I mean, I guess you could technically say we still have that chance, but it's going to be a mile climb.

nothing can replace actual game reps. rather have it happen now and let them gel from day 1. we certainly aren't out of the playoff picture yet, hell KC started 1-5 last year and still made the playoffs.

Luke was changing the coverage at the moment the ball was snapped.  It was obvious that not everyone saw it in time.

Some kind of communication error happened on this play between the coaches. Not sure if a call ever even came in from the sidelines. Even Luke was lost on this play.

Luke was not lost. He read Carson Palmer's audible for the slot receivers to run corners and the wide receivers to run drag routes.

Luke, TD, and Coleman all made the correct call. Luke even had time to adjust Star into zone coverage so he could take the deep middle as he pushed out the safety and nickel on to the WRs.

Coleman made his call to switch to Worley. Leonard Johnson was confused and failed to make his call for a switch to McClain.

The result was both slot receivers wide open in the corners of the end zone as the CBs both bit on the decoy drag routes.

This is a common audible for the Cardinals in the red zone.

The only 2 players lost on that play were Worley and Leonard Johnson.

Worley was lost on that entire drive.

Rivera tried to call a time out on the play before that TD because Leonard Johnson was wandering around and out of position pre snap.

I like him and I'm not sure why. I just hope he doesn't end up someone we have to recall in recent memory. I'd like to see him flourish with bradberry who I believe will be with us for a little while. I'd also like to see him learn how to tackle more fundamentally and keep his feet. He seems to slip a lot. Been rootin for him to bounce back since preseason.. hoping he continues to make his case.

And there was a reason Rivera blitzed those lost CBs much more than the norm last Sunday.   It worked in our favor but not something we can rely on as teams knowing that going forward would exploit it. The blitz calls often used questionable cover guys.

    • Basically agree.  He is the one of that bunch that offers upgraded pass catching along with he is supposed to be kind of special.   Then you have the OL and the ideas that if they perform you can have JAG backs and still do well. So okay we could be fine.  But Brooks is important and to me that receiving element sets him apart.  So there sure is something riding on him.     What strikes me as incongruent is people over in Atlanta or those that follow them look at Penix with a third surgery and act like it is no big deal.      And we are on pins and needles over Brooks.  Either they should worry a lot more or we should worry a lot less.
    • I usually go a game or two optimist over the consensus here but this is too early for me to say. I need to see some players on the field.  I am not feeling real optimistic though.
    • Okay as a ‘take CJ’ fan I actually don’t obsess over CJ and Houston, contrary to the narrative.  But I thought I picked up some noise that his OL left a lot to be desired.    Not a single Beyce supporter would judge him harshly if he had a crappy OL. We all know that.    So be fair about it.  A QB needs to be protected.  Especially a guy that gets to his spot and wants to finish the play from there. Which CJ is.
