I don't see any first rounder being our future. This year's top prospect (Cam Robinson - mediocre at pass blocking; awful at run blocking) would be a low second rounder during last year's draft - anything but a sure thing.

I can see us looking at a guy with potential (physically and mentally) and grabbing him as soon as our compensatory pick, but otherwise don't think there's much worth to draft one.

Davenport is the guy you described.  Cousin of MKG of the Hornets to boot.

Glad that Oher seems to be healthy, and hope he really thought about this decision. I'm sure he loves the game of football, and really doesn't want an injury to end his career - but I really hope it'll be a decision that won't be life-altering in a bad way.

Only move I see happening is finding depth at LT - that is if Oher is back to playing shape/healthy. Maybe go for Matt Kalil, but I don't think our o-line is in as bad of shape as many make it out to be. Remmers can backup Daryl, and a FA can backup Oher.

We may get an OT as high as the 3rd round compensatory pick we have, but no higher. We'll probably look at measurables and see if there's one we can develop.

For those of you wondering "bah why not a 1st" compare this year's crop with last year's crop of OTs.

Cam Robinson is a low 2nd rounder to 3rd rounder at best if he went for last year's draft. There is no OT worth a high pick or one that'll make an immediate impact, whether you like it or not.

You are assuming he would have went 2nd or 3rd round, each team has propsect ranked differently Just like Bradberry was surprise  2nd round pick.  Cam Robinson is 1st round pick this year and Carolina could be the perfect landing spot especially for a team that runs the ball 50% of the time.

Given what we've read about his health, I can't help but wonder if he really should.

Obviously he knows his health better than anyone, but athletes don't always make the best decisions.

I think he was pretty much shut down when it became clear we weren't making it back to the playoffs

The issue with Cam? He's no better than what we already have.'

Cam Robinson is good against power DEs, and those that play with push rather than speed.

He's certainly not the answer against any speed rushers -  an issue our tackles have. I don't see how he'd be an upgrade over anyone we have, and he's certainly not worth that high of a pick because of his deficiencies.

The team needs an impact player that makes a difference day one; not a project.

Myles Garrett, Haha man you are so wrong he would be better than any OT we have on the roster. Is he gonna get beat once in awhile, yes. Like I said we run the ball 50% of the time hence his power will be utilized well and negate speed rushers.

Should have invested after Otah and after Gross. If I had to pick one position the Panthers completely ignore it would be OT. Year after year. Yet every other position every including defense and special teams OT is the most neglected. Anlegit returner comes a close second but why just why is the second most important position in the offense besides QB been neglected so much?

We should go into the offseason assuming Oher will end up retiring by the end of 2017. Nothing against the guy but can't ignore the red flags. I would hope Oher doesn't ignore them either if something does happen.

Even if he wants to play, if he gets another concussion which is more likey we will be back to 2016 scenario. This season showed that defenses are allowed to take head shots and scramble our players brain which the league will allow to do next year I wouldn't take any chances.

Look, there are hundreds of tackles out there. To say there are no tackles worthy of a first rounder at 9 or 10 is ridiculous. That is the same stupid logic that ended up bringing us Byron Bell when we passed on one in years past. There will be teams picking a left tackle after us that will be a starter in the league. So the idea that this pick shouldn't be wasted on a tackle makes no sense. There is virtually no position more valuable for us than left tackle. Oher is not a reliable option at this point. If we find a guy who can be our.left tackle for the next decade, it will be well worth a first.

    • Just another 1st round QB that never paid off for the team that drafted them or traded for them. It's been like this since the SB began. 36 QBs have now won the SB & only 13 of them have been 1st rounders winning with their original team. Namath 1968, Griese 1972, Bradshaw 1974, McMahon 1985, Simms 1986, Aikman 1992, Elway 1997, Roethlisberger 2005, P.Manning 2006, E.Manning 2007, Rodgers 2010, Flacco 2012, & Mahomes 2019. Only 3 have taken longer than 5 seasons as the starter to win a SB.  4  6  5  4  6  4  15  2  9  4  3  5  2 [the years it takes for these 1st round QBs] 5  1  4  1  3  1  1  2  3  4  [10 of the 36 have won a chip with their 1st team that haven't been drafted in the 1st round. These are the years it took them as a starter] What stands out? Only 2 of these QBs have lost their first championship appearance. Elway took 4 years as a 1st rounder & Hurts took 2 years as a 2nd rounder. Of the 10 non-1st round QBs, 2 are 2nd rounders, 3 are 3rd rounders, 5 are 6th rounders or later. Please stop wasting time on drafting 1st round QBs with such a high failure rate. The remaining 13 QBs are traded or free agent signings. Stafford, Favre, Young, Williams and Dawson are the 5 trades. Peyton Manning & Tom Brady also won for teams as free agents on a short stay as well as being drafted. The lesson here is don't waste your franchise on farming up 1st rounders for the league, and steer clear of trading for a franchise QB. Stick to finding that championship QB by drafting them outside of the 1st round or through free agency.
    • I lost most of the respect I had for Fox in 2010. He should have resigned if he hated the job that much. Instead he stuck for his paycheck and let stuff go to hell.    I burned out on Ron too but my deal breaker issue with him was away from football and after he was gone from the Panthers. He may have been out of his depth but never quit on us.
    • From where they were one year ago to now, pretty incredible. I mean, say what you want about Vrabel he is no Jerrod Mayo.
