REPORT: Matt Kaili to re-sign w/Vikings

Free agent LT Matt Kalil could be open to re-signing on a team-friendly deal

Kalil spent all but two games of his contract year on IR with a hip injury. His best chance at reestablishing value is staying with the same system he's been in the last five seasons. Assuming the price is right, the Vikings should want Kalil back after fielding the worst tackle play in the league in 2016.

I mean, anyone who thought he'd be an upgrade here is just delusional. He'd be better depth than Turner at tackle but that's about it and so would many FA OTs. Remmers and Williams are both much better than him. And Ryan can't just magically make Matt good if people were thinking he'd have an impact on his brother.

Kalil was never the answer.  The Vikings have even less options than we do because overall their OL sucks worse, they have more holes overall, they don't have a 1st, they're are picking later in every other round, have less cap space, and Spielman doesn't want to look like even more of an idiot by jettisoning his top 5 pick.

    • i presented this in another thread. he throws better to the out breaking routes the wr run, but almost nothing to the inside. that is half the options on a wr route tree. How do you run an offense like that?  even the outbreaking routes he throws are moonballs, that allow the DBs to catch up unless the wr is wide open. he has to throw with a lot of anticipation becuase he doesnt have the arm strenght to get it there if he is a little late. thats probably why you see balls behind the wrs.
