Matt Kalil contract details

Recommended Posts

We had 3 straight division titles and a SB appearance recently. That unraveled in part because our LT got injured for the year early on and our line went to poo.

That LT was picked up from another team after being labeled a bust when he was supposed to be a franchise LT and then shined on our squad.

We all literally just watched this scenario unfold in front of us the last couple of years and people are still freaking out?

Get a grip people.

Whitworth is 8 years older. Kalil turns 28 this season and Whitworth will be 36 this season. If Kalil plays out all 5 years, he will end up being 2 years younger than Whitworth is today.

You're valuing age over talent. Just like the age gap with the two there's a huge talent gap as well.

At the end of the day I want the better player regardless of age in this situation. Whitworth would've given us 2 solid years where as Kalil is a complete unknown but his last 4 seasons don't give us much hope.

Whitworth would've bought us 2 more years to find someone. 2 years from now is a long time. At some point you need to focus on the present especially while we have Cam.

Even if it's structured to cut bait after 2 years that's still 2 more years of Cam getting killed. He'll be 30 by then. This franchise will never learn. We get blessed with a generational talent and flush it down the drain.

"You bitch when he spends and bitch when he doesn't" posters dont realize how trash Kalil is. He's worse than Remmers plus he's injury-prone

Posters don't realize how trash Oher is. He's worse than Bell plus he's injury-prone.

-Literally half the Huddle a few years back and Oher did great for us.

    • Gustavsson would be insane. I think we would have to break the bank to afford that move. Which, I don't think is necessarily a bad idea. Ultimately, Freddie isn't likely to be around more than a couple of seasons more. We can all agree that unless they have a fleet of sports psychologists working on Kochetkov, he will never be capable of getting his head on straight enough to compete.
    • I originally hated the Miller deal but with the cap projected to rise nearly $10M next season the Canes struck some pretty good deals between Miller and Ehlers. Most of the team is locked in for the next few years. Nikishin will need an extension probably in the $6M AAV range. And Blake will need one if we don’t move him. Personally I’d move Blake, picks, and any prospect not named Nikishin/Nadeau/Artamonov for McTavish as I don’t see any any of the big time players moving teams next year. Realistically the Hurricanes should just target Gustavsson next year to fix the goal tending issue. But I’m all for moving Blake, picks, and prospects for McTavish this year. Ehlers - Aho - Jarvis Svechnikov - McTavish - Stankoven Martinook - Staal - Carrier Hall - Kotkaniemi - Robinson Jost - Jankowski Slavin - Miller Nikishin - Chatfield Gostisbehere - Walker Reilly Andersen Kochetkov I’d do Blake, Felix-Unger-Sorum, and 27 2nd for McTavish.
    • Very true on the length but stuff like this is never where we shine. We aren’t a good team at drafting.
