We could be witnessing a birth of a shutdown corner that could pay huge dividends this season. With a year of experience & NFL conditioning the CB duo should take huge strides in the upcoming season. Look for Wilks to incorporate the CBs ability to play man & zone into playcalling that frees up the Safety  for other assignments. 

-This is was one my reason not needing a safety in the 1st round but it will be beneficial to address it in the mid rounds. 

-Also why pass rushers will be able to get to the QB with that extra sec aka Charles Johnson & Peppers

So, no, I don't see there being any vast difference between McDermott and Wilkes.  Much like the offensive coordinator, what they do is exactly what the head coach wants.

I beg to differ. Mr. Scot has alluded to multiple times about Rivera's scheme in SD, and how Wilks will likely incorporate more man to man schemes.

McDermott was a zone-centric blitz heavy style defense from what he saw back in Philly's Johnson era defense, and Rivera is more fundamental and let your front wreck havoc type of guy. Wilks does enjoy working with the secondary a lot, so I'd expect him to add some more flair to the style of play back there.

Don't expect anything ground breaking year one. We will still be a zone blitz team because of continuity. Year 2 it might change more.

I think that's our LBr strength and based on we have 3 first round LBrs, they are the center of the defense.

This is the key with CB ability to takeaway the  deep outside threats LBs and Safety's can work  underneath to stop the quick underneath and middle passes.

Resisting changes that would actually incentivize good performance and not seniority based systems. What a bunch of donkeys. Hope the replacements straight up take their jobs and never give them back. Sick of watching refs script games with no repercussions.

      Donovan seems like highest risk to me. Lloyd and May have already established relationships with all these kids. There’s probably guys hitting the portal that they recruited from HS. And then there’s the possibility of transferring their own guys from their current teams. They’ve also been recruiting the HS kids for like the next 5 years already. Look at the Iowa coach who hit the ground running by transferring all his guys from his D2 program. Or going across sports to Cignetti transferring all his JMU guys year one then building off that to a national title year 2. Donovan is starting from square one having been in the NBA so long and he’s already 60. So you’re potentially punting year 1 for a guy you are just hoping to be a 10 year hire while you figure out how to actually develop your next home grown 20yr guy. That’s 1/10th of the time you have him, more or less at best. The hope would be that he would find some high level assistants who have been working the college recruiting trails already, but then are you giving up his ideal staff just to get a foothold in recruiting and transfers. Think Belichick year one was bad? Imagine how much worse it would be without Steve Belichicks transfer portal pulls. Hoping Mays or Lloyd are all they’re cracked up to be.
