The Falcon's Stadium Is Being Delayed. The Issue? The Retractable Roof.

Whenever one looks at the new Falcons stadium, one simply can't help picturing Matty Meltdown's rear end on that fateful game day. It simply looks like a huge butthole basking itself in the air of Atlanta.

Apparently, that roof may be the sole reason the stadium's finish date may likely be 'butted' back.

According to 11Alive’s partners at the Atlanta Business Chronicle, the Atlanta Falcons have been informed by the Georgia World Congress Center Authority that the stadium’s retractable roof is being “evaluated.” The GWCCA is the body that will own the completed stadium.

Metal panels for the roof are supposed to be able to open and close completely in less than 10 minutes, allowing for open-air games. But the Business Chronicle reports that the complex design has forced another delay for the stadium, which was supposed to open this month. That timeline has now been pushed back.

Looks like retractable roofs that look like huge clamped buttholes aren't exactly the easiest thing to make. A huge blow in the rearend for the Failcons.

Oh, and the Falcons blew a 25 point lead in the Superbowl.

You young'uns probably don't know this, but back in the 70's Montreal was chosen as the site of the 1976 Summer Olympics.  They broke ground on their Olympic Stadium that was designed to have a retractable roof in 1973.

They didn't complete the retractable roof until 1987 and it didn't open for the first time until 1988.

You go, Artie Blank... lol.

Even having the option to close the roof of your stadium when you are below the mason Dixon line is an abomination that should be punished by demotion to the CFL. It's football. Man up and play in the elements

A closed roof or dome will get your city a super bowl and final four! Hell, I wish we had one!

    • I'm right there with you, brother. I've been a Panther fan since the day the team was awarded to the Carolinas.  We've had some good years, a couple of great years, as well as some low periods and no consecutive winning seasons. But I never thought I'd see such a period as we have over the past several years.   It has gotten to the point of being rather apathetic in watching them. In fact, I told my wife before the Miami game I was watching just to see what new and creative way they lose another game. And early on, it looked like they would. But damned if Miami wasn't more creative than the Panthers.   I'm now older than my Dad when he died (he was 65) and, like you, I've wondered if I'll ever see them have another winning season. I'd sure like to think I will.
