Or, as a counterpoint, he took a job that would more dependably put money in the bank and food on the table even with the negative of giving him less access.

(I'm not saying that's what happened, just giving it as a realistic counterpoint.  And I cast no aspersions towards jobs that dependably place money in your bank account and food on your table.)

I'm sure this will be the popular viewpoint of many Huddlers. I, however, wish that we all collectively will one day be smarter.

Working for the team gives Bill more access. There's no debate there. He's already had 1 on 1's with Cam and Luke on the first day. What other outlets have had access like that?

The only debate is if working for the team makes him less objectionable, seeing how the Panthers are now cutting his paycheck.

If it only takes a second maybe a third round pick to go from 8 to 6, why wouldn't you do it to guarantee your guy?

To me, this is still true.  If LF makes it passed the Jags, DG could get on the phone and jump to 5 or 6 and not trade away the farm I would think.  Not saying it will happen, just could still make sense if it means only giving up our 2nd 2 or something.

I like Voth, and think that he'll do a fine job.

I've said it before: Breaking news is overrated. It's not even necessarily the most important part of every story, or any story.  It's the analysis of that news which is more interesting. Moreover, plenty of people prefer other stories that everyone and their mama aren't reporting about. And if there is reporting on the same thing everyone else is, different angles are appreciated.

There are different types and aspects of journalism, and in regards to pure journalism, Twitter is not it!

Just my $.02.

How would working FOR the organization give him less access? If anything it should provide more access?

I think the point about access is that by working for the organization, yes, he likely has more access but, at the same time, has *less* of an ability to use the "insider info" he gets by that access.

That's usually how it works with NFL teams.  You zap info out there that the owner, president, GM, or head coach doesn't want to be out there, you gone.

if you think Voathe is going to be using his "access" to dish out insider info you're a certifiable moron

you can expect some great team sanctioned newspieces on who the opponents on the schedule this year are and fournette's favorite color

I'm genuinely flabbergasted there ate people who weren't aware that the team is a propaganda machine

did you think it was just bad luck that max Henson has never been able to "dish out the scoop"...? lol

this is the quintessential " I've got some property to sell you " scenario.

I think there will be a possibility with the 49ers to move up for a 1st next year and a 2nd this year. I think that would be a good trade. It would suck to not have a first but if we make the playoffs what caliber player will be there in the first anyways, We have alot of young good talent on the roster. I dont know who we have to resign next year but I think there isnt too much that we would have to give up the following year. I know Star but who else? Seeing that I see us giving up a first and with our 2nd getting some depth, We have addressed alot of our needs in FA and we can address depth in the later rounds.

That's what teams that have had 4 losing seasons out of the last 6 should definitely do... trade future 1st round draft choices to give the coach who has led that 4 out of 6 more players now and deprive any possible replacement of a choice.

    • Damn I liked A'Shawn too. This is basically a heads up we're planning on cutting you move.  Robinson wasn't the best but I loved his attitude and effort on the field. He held that entire dline together when Brown went down iirc..granted we finished that season as the worst rushing defense in modern NFL history.  If Wharton would have performed up to atleast half of his salary last season, I'd feel a little better about it. We do need that cap space though.
    • 13. Carolina is coming. The Panthers are well thought of around the league. Their "process" seems sound. I think their off-season will be very interesting to keep an eye on. They made the playoffs, but they're not yet knocking on the door. (Offense was 26th in EPA/play.) I think it's imperative they don't overestimate where they are in their build. They can't throw a ton of money around in FA to "make a run now". They need to be intentional about building a solid foundation. (IMO) And from what I know about the team... I think they will be. Sidenote: I have my eye on offense there, not defense. They HAVE to leave next season with a strong opinion on Bryce Young. They need to put pieces around him to do that. Can't be left wondering what he would have looked like with "better OL play" or "more pass catchers". They have to know. (That part is purely my opinion. No one told me that.) https://x.com/lindsay_rhodes/status/2027212533417869499?s=46&t=xeIgh_-Vr2aKxBkBJdfnKA
    • Because this DL is completely reliant on Brown being available and being a stud. Without him we were the worst D in history. The Wharton signing last year reeked of desperation. He just isn't a great fit for us schematically and I think we panicked a little bit when we missed out on Milton Williams who would have been a great fit.
