So we're down to 0 round 4 or later draft picks left on the roster from the 2013 & 2014 drafts. I say this only because there seems to be a lot of talk about Gettleman's late round drafting prowess, but the evidence points to the complete opposite:

2015 not looking super promising, either. Williams having trouble winning the RT spot, CAP buried on the depth chart and maybe on the way out, best hope for Mayo may be the AJ Klein route.

Of 2016 Sandland didn't even make the roster last year and Sanchez looks like he may be replaced sooner rather than later.

Not really meant to hate on Gettleman, but really just hit me how terrible we have actually been at drafting past round 3. Only batting .500 on 2nd and 3rd round picks, too. Yikes. I'm actually a bit worried about our newest draft class now.

Well...atleast he'll have more time to work on that "protest" he was worried about instead of the Minnesota game this past season.

Disclaimer: I don't care to argue about the validity of the national anthem protest, I can see both sides.  It was just really dumb timing on his part to talk about how he was worried about some extra BS while we were looking incredibly bad on the field.

    • No one way to do it, it does appear that with the bigger draft picks of the last 5 years…..majority haven’t steered clear of young QBs on the roster being their hopeful guy. Especially past their rookie seasons but even some the biggest ones have had it early.   As far as Andy Dalton, the two young guys he has “mentored”…..have had very rough NFL starts.  Which really ask the why the heck is Dalton here.   He doesn’t really check any box.  No young potential.  Can’t step in and win.  And his mentor track record with Fields and now Bryce is bad
    • I had thought the Panthers might let him play out his contract this year and hope he stays healthy. If not draft a left tackle and move Ekwonu to right tackle.
    • Frankly, if most teams in the NFL lose their starting QB for a significant amount of time, they're screwed. The fantasy is that one has a future Tony Romo or a Nick Foles that can carry a stacked team. The reality is that you might get roughly 3~5 games out of your backup before it all falls apart. Remember all of Peyton Manning's backups? Utterly terrible. Speaking of backup QB's, Raiders may need one. https://www.nfl.com/news/raiders-qb-aidan-o-connell-suffered-fractured-wrist-in-preseason-finale-expected-to-be-out-6-8-weeks
