Bill Voth: Gary Barnidge Will Not Be Returning To Carolina

Recommended Posts

With the new weapons and evolution of the offense, I'm not so sure we're going to see so many double TE sets anyway. If that's the case, then it doesn't make much sense to bring in Barnidge. But... if we're planning on trotting Dickson out there for nearly two thirds of our snaps again... well then, fug.

I'm kinda meh on Barnidge anyway.

It's not just about 2 TE sets but about the reality that Olsen has been incredibly durable and reliable for us. He isn't getting younger. Our ineptitude with the backup tight end position is infuriating.

We need a long term fix for when Greg calls it a career; Not another TE already on the wrong side of 30.

Plus, as has already been mentioned, with our first 2 draft picks, I'm not so sure the need for double TE sets is as necessary as it once was pre-draft.

    • It's getting weird how much you love having me in your mouth.

However, the defense was serviceable 2023 - 2024 with pressure and tackling being the biggest issues (despite not having Jaycee for most of it). I understand that folks are low on Evero because they desperately want a sacrifice for last season's results, but a step back from the ledge shows that it wasn't all terrible in his first season as DC for the team.
    • Alternate between Renfro and Blackshear for now. Simply not muffing the punt is the current goal. As far as Horn goes I'd prefer to not tempt fate with that one given our investment.
